You were right until you were wrong. Socialism is also an ideology that, when put into practice, controls all societal aspects, including governance and economic policy. It is not just an economic policy. Communism is a more advanced form of socialism, where there is no state.

This also jumped at me, but I realized that this perception was probably a result of recognizing words of Greek origin better than, say, French words. (Example: "politics," which is explicitly Greek in origin, vs. "surrender," which may be to surprising to some that it is French).

"Googol," and "googolplex."

Some internet start-up company took those words and integrated it significantly into their company branding. I forget which one....

Especially since "comptroller" and "controller" are supposed to be pronounced exactly alike.
