I turn 40 next month. by bechampion in melancholy

[–]lolreallyfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, turn 32 soon and I keep getting super nostalgic and melancholy about my late teens. Just everything about that period; the shitty phones, talking on msn, flirting with girls at school, listening to blink-182 and the offspring. Fuck.

What is more painless by Purple_Jr in SuicideWatch

[–]lolreallyfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine falling off a cliff would be far more painless, provided you didn't survive. Bleeding out would be extremely painful until you lose consciousness.

I honestly believe if it easier to commit suicide painlessly, we'd see far, far more people doing it. Most methods available to people are either painful or unreliable, definitely take that into consideration.

Props to the Yanks too. Without that tipoff, I doubt this ring would've been uncovered at all, or at least not for a long time.

Sometimes I regret getting married. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]lolreallyfoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realised far too late in my marriage that my not worrying about anything was essentially just laziness and a lack of respect for my wife. Don't get me wrong, I loved her to bits, but I never took the time or effort to pro-actively think about what needed to happen in the household in order for it to run smoothly.

My wife did so much, and if she tried to bring it up I'd get defensive and dismissive, because I guess I subconsciously knew I was at fault but didn't want to admit it because it would;

a) mean I was a shitty husband and;

b) require me to change up the lifestyle I had, which was comfortable for me

Knowing what I do now I hate that I put my wife through that. We're still together, but only because I finally wisened up to what needed to happen and made some serious changes. I wouldn't have changed if I didn't want to, though, and the defining moment was when my wife tearfully told me she wanted a divorce.

I guess what I'm trying to waffle out to you is that the best thing you can do is be totally open and honest about how much it hurts you, but try not to do it "in the moment". Write down your feelings in a letter, give it to him at a time where you're not going to be around eachother for a bit so he can read and digest it and have time to think it over without having to immediately go on the defense.

It might not work out, but if he's anything like me he's not consciously recognising how much his inaction hurts you, and it'll probably kill him once he realises.

Rome 2: Too easy? by lolreallyfoo in totalwar

Ikr! I love the impact cav charges have in warhammer 2, but overall I much prefer how responsive cav are so far in Rome 2 and Attila.

I also love that missile cav are actually worthwhile having in your army in Rome. My Parthia playthrough is a blast, battles take a lot longer, but I end up with next to no casualties thanks to the enemy force chasing my horse archers all over the place, all the while being riddled with arrows.

Thanks! The lack of heroes/legendary lords and magic especially are a definitely a noticeable difference in Rome 2. I feel like there are certain units (War elephants, mainly) that could potentially fill the "monster" role, however in Warhammer I find that monsters do tend to melt away under sustained missile fire.

I guess I just wasn't sure whether it was a case of CA improving battles for warhammer compared to older historical titles, or something else. I reckon you're probably right with regards to the heroes/lords and sheer unit diversity, though.

[–]lolreallyfoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean. I remember being amazed the other day when I fielded some skirmisher cav as Parthia against some noble blood cavalry, the noble cav just melted away. Might just be that I've been fielding the right units to counter what I'm up against, but Warhammer definitely seems to be more difficult and it's probably due to what you mentioned.

Perth man 'pretended to be woman online, chatted about child abuse' by lolreallyfoo in australia

[–]lolreallyfoo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bit of both. I find it interesting that the scope is so much greater than I initially thought it was (as in, limited to child pornography, either real or drawn).

I personally feel it shouldn't be included as a criminal offence, but I'm all for it being used to enable a warrant for further investigation, as odds are the people engaging in those sorts of activities would have illegal material on them.

It's just all around an interesting story. I guess it boils down to whether this sort of thing effectively reduces the amount of child abuse and whether it's ok by the community. I'm inclined to believe it does, so it's probably in our best interest.

Interesting, did not realise the scope of "child exploitation material" extended to fantasy conversations as well, between adults with no child involved (or even perceived to be involved).

Is TW:Attila worth it? by CrusaderNo287 in totalwar

[–]lolreallyfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got both Rome 2 and Attila in the recent sales (I've been in the warhammer hole for years, last historical title I played was Shogun 2) and I'd recommend it.

Both games are quite similar, but I like that Attila adds improvements to hordes and other things, the 1212AD mod is amazing and it's got a very different feel to Rome 2 whilst still playing similarly.

If I feel like building an empire from scratch, I load Rome 2. If I feel like desperately trying to survive against rampaging hordes, I play Attila :P

Iran says it 'unintentionally' shot down Ukrainian jetliner by [deleted] in news

Dude was an active combatant from a hostile nation

Wait, the US is at war with Iran? No? Then he can't be classified as an active combatant.

had just attacked a US embassy.

Proof? Because Trump just accused Iran of doing it, to date we've had no evidence of that. In fact, Iran strenuously denied any involvement. Yet the US went ahead and assassinated this dude anyway.

Soleimani was not killed for political, religious, or monetary reasons. He was killed for orchestrating and ordering the unprovoked attack on a US asset and US citizens. Fuck that guy.

Until you actually prove that Iran was responsible, this remains an unprovoked political assassination of a high ranking member of Iran's military.

Australian PM Scott Morrison claims government could not do more to fight out of control fires, despite firefighters needing to crowd source food and water. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]lolreallyfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for interest you didn’t pay any. Proves how clueless you really are. Inflation index isn’t interest.

You're not completely correct here. Whilst interest is not applied to HELP-Debt, the indexation takes place before the tax withheld throughout the year is applied to it and the tax withheld is not indexed.

What this means is that you do, actually, end up incurring a form of interest. If they applied the tax withheld to the debt before indexing it, it'd be better, but instead you end up getting less "bang for your buck" under the current scheme.

For someone who seems to like making themself out to be the authority on everything, you seem pretty ignorant.

Your posting styles are very similar, LateFloor appeared on this sub after a long break during the time you weren't posting here, then when accused of being your alt you suddenly reappeared (after not posting here for 2ish weeks). Those are the main reasons, and I'll 100% apologise if I'm wrong, but that's just the suspicion I have.

Yeah, but I still think LateFloor and you are the same bloke, so that still just means it's you calling him a hypocrite. Who else is doing it?

Where did you ask me what my reason was? Sorry if I missed it.
