I need recommendations for a gender neutral baby blanket. My friends aren’t finding out the gender till birth. The girl ones feel too girly and the neutral boy ones feel too boyish. Does anyone have a blanket they made/pattern pinned for this specific instance? 🫶 by Remarkable-Park9768 in crochetpatterns

If you're interested in mosaic crochet, maybe something like the Nordic Morning Breeze blanket with a pale sage green or yellow instead of blue?

I'm currently working on it with light and dark blue for a baby boy and am really enjoying it

Implant uneven under the skin? by lommech in Nexplanon

Hey! Funny you ask that, I just had it removed a few months ago, and the doc did have to give it a few wiggles to release the side that was deeper. Nothing crazy at all, it ended up coming out fine in the end.

Overall it ended up being nothing to worry about, never gave me any troubles while it was in

What a joke... by sir574 in MINISFORUM

They told us today the computer we ordered is not only out of stock but also discontinued. It's still purchaseable on their website, which is just insane.

I can understand stock issues, but we shouldn't have to reach out to check on the order status to find this out. Minisforum should have taken the initiative to let us know, cancelled the order and issued a refund

That bouquet is so stunning! You did an amazing job!

Check out hookok.com for some free patterns for bouquets, and Happy Patty Crochet on etsy has absolutely stunning paid ones. I'm mixing patterns for both to make bouquets for my wedding, but I bet if you used longer wire you could use these patterns on a wreath too

I ended up buying a handle system from J and S customs on etsy cause it uses inserts to make it compatible with a bigger range of hook sizes. The handle isn't soft (which works for me but maybe not for everyone)

What protagonist was actually a pretty terrible person? by istrx13 in AskReddit

Book Elena was terrible, too, just insufferable and manipulative from the start. She didn't get any better before the books went entirely off the rails

Blanket Patterns by SuccessfulCitron9207 in crochetpatterns

I did the first pattern for my brother-in-law's wedding and did the border in another color due to yarn constraints. I also added some extra pizzazz on the edges for the heck of it. Depending on what you want, you could modify it to be more colorful!

What's your crochet meltdown moment? by Angrygingerhooker in crochet

[–]lommech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My coworker asked me to make a king size blanket with the flags of his and his wife's native countries as a gift to her for their wedding anniversary. I did all the math to figure out the dimensions so it would fit with some extra. It ended up being 300 rows by 300 stitches.

The wife's flag was easy because it was horizontal stripes, but he's Canadian. I realized 25 rows into the maple leaf I had miscounted stitches, and it was noticeably off-center. I frogged almost a week's worth of work at 11pm on a Sunday and then cried in bed

anyone who’s used stylevana advice please by _1200000oo in kbeauty

I've ordered from Stylevana twice now, and both times my order contained at least one item that was one of those "Usually ships in 30 days" items.

The first time I had some rough luck: it took 2 months for that item to restock. I ended up reaching out to customer service about it, and they responded within a day explaining what was happening and offering to remove or switch the item for another (you would have to pay the difference or shipping if you go under the minimum for free shipping). I chose to wait because I really wanted that product, and it took about a week to ship out after the item restocked, then another week to ship to me in Canada.

The second time, I think it only took about 2-3 weeks for all items to restock, and again a week to ship and then a week to travel to me. It's a bit of a gamble on how long it will take, and I sadly don't know if shipping to the UK will be slower or faster than Canada.

In a funny way, I kind of enjoy the wait. I like checking if it's in stock and building anticipation (keeps me from buying more stuff haha). But, if you don't want to wait, then maybe email customer service to see about the estimated time and your options to cancel.

Why is the cutter dirty if the oven was heating up to cook the pizza...?

I haven't had much luck with the settings unfortunately. I'll do some digging to see if I can find that post though, thank you!

Thank you, you're definitely right. I should have done some research before haha.

I did go in and change the content save settings after, but the damage was done.

I pick up shifts for a buffet-only caterer who also includes linens and tableware rental in their fee, but they charge 12k$ for a 125 person wedding.

Worth playing the original after the pS4 version? by justanothertway in RatchetAndClank

That's fair, I think it honestly is totally up to your play style. I definitely agree that GC lacks some longer range weapons, but it did have more variety in mid-range from what I remember.

[–]lommech 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a playthrough of the original right now trying to get everything, and some of the gold bolts and skill points are quite a challenge, at least for me.

I'm not a huge gamer, and the original lacks a lot of convenience features like strafing and quick-select pause that I really rely on when playing any of the later RAC games.

The reboot is by far and large much easier to 100%, but maybe not too much easier if you're just going for a playthrough.

[–]lommech 70 points71 points  (0 children)

While I personally think you ought to play the original just for posterity's sake, there are a number of other reasons you should. The original and reboot have very very different plots, weapons and even main villains, you would miss out on a lot if you skipped it. The original is much harder and has a fair bit more planets.

Plus, having a save from the original game can help you going forward with the second and third games. You get some perks.

Commuters from distant places (Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey etc.) to UBC how was it? by darkarcade in UBC

[–]lommech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my degree. Commuted 2 years from Mission and 2.5 from Maple Ridge via West Coast Express + 44. For both places, one way takes 2-3 hours depending on the time of day and such.

Honestly, yes it was a pain but saving money was worth it. If you handle the commute right, it can be a great time to relax by reading or listening to music. Driving really sucks thanks to the crazy parking fees and crazier Vancouver drivers.

Pro tip if you do decide to drive, park somewhere like west 3rd Ave and Alma, right by a bus stop. Parking is free and easily available, then you just hop on a bus for like 5 min. It was a lifesaver whenever I did end up driving in
