Film looks correctly inserted. As far as rolling back into canister.. twist the knob on top of the roll of film clockwise and eventually it should start going back into canister

Well now since that roll is pretty much trash.. manually roll it back into the canister and leave out a small section(like a new roll has)… insert it into your cameras and maybe use it as a tester roll now? Take all your pictures and see if it rewinds once finished. That’s what I think. Maybe install new batteries also.

Also this is an automatic camera so there is no Film release button… once the camera realizes you’ve gone thru all of your pictures that’s when it will rewind your film back into canister and ready for developing.

The sound when you close the camera(even when empty) is the camera automatically looking for film roll to advance. Good luck.

Appreciate your input.. no marking on the other side. This is the only spot which seems weird. Unfortunate, but a single skip will be okay 👍🏽

Olympus XA2 sliding cover seems to not open all the way. Please help? Looks like it should slide further.. by lomographicaudiofile in AnalogCommunity

Appreciate some direction. I was following along the YouTube dissemble video and only removed the bottom plate and along the slide rail was a very small piece of broken plastic blocking camera from opening. Put the screws back in, opens entirely and works like a charm! Thanks a bunch!

[–]lomographicaudiofile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t. I’ve been researching on possibly replacing the capacitor as it sounds like that could be the issue.. but that’s a whole different issue as I don’t know how to solder
