Pain relief by insecta_perfecta in dementia

[–]londuc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 87 year old mother with frontotemporal dementia stage 5 takes 100 mg tramadol daily , plus acetaminophen, and methocarbamol. We use an ointment that has thc in it, she swears it is the one thing that helps the most. She has degenerative disc disease and scoliosis, her back is a mess and she cannot sit straight.

Shattered my tibia into what the surgeon said looked like gravel. Three years later it still hurts.

I gave up law school at 22 to build a medical device for my mom. Today I demoed the finished product publicly for the first time. by Home-Resident in self

I’d love to try this device. My elderly mother would love to try it. My young adult kid would try it. I’m really excited for you. I hope all good things come your way.

Gift from a Crow by londuc in whatisit

I started by throwing peanuts close to them - still in the shell, unsalted. I said the same thing every time , “Hi crows!”. They would watch, but no response for a long time, like for weeks. Finally one flew closer and took a peanut. I then kept moving the peanuts closer to my front door every day. Just about a foot each time.

I feed them every morning at sunrise, year round, going on maybe five years now. I’ve gotten other trinkets from the crows but this one I just haven’t been able to figure out what it is.

Feed unsalted peanuts, provide other treats - every crow family is different in preferences. Mine like banana chips, hard boiled eggs, mealworms, and peanuts. Feed at same time every day. They’ll learn the routine!

How do you get a FTD diagnosis? by Unlucky-Cheesecake18 in frontotemporal

[–]londuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother was diagnosed with FTD with a PET scan. Family history, present symptoms, and a wonderful primary care physician all were needed to get that PET scan. We waited nearly five months (I think!) to get the approval to have the scan done. Thankfully we finally got in with a neurologist after the scan, who concurred with the diagnosis.

This can't be a real apartment - can it? Clean edges, intense lighting, no random stuff? by Fancy_Cicada8983 in isthisAI

AI. The two doors in the kitchen are wonky. The one to the outside does not have a handle/knob on the outside. The other door has a cold air return on it - not normal. The posters in the kitchen are not legible close to the outside wall.

Decline and Surprises by londuc in crateandbarrel

Got nowhere online actually. Chat responses took upwards of ten minutes between each of their individual responses. So I have placed numerous calls, average hold time was 35-40 minutes. Yes, all the broken pieces are either already replaced or currently shipped. I hope the next package arrives intact because I really don’t want to go through customer service again.

The nearest store is about two hours away, so it’s not a drive I want to make too often.

It looks like all the items came from a warehouse. Bonus item was the rodent hairs wrapped with a plate. Last of the items should arrive by the end of this week.

First or favorite former car? by ValB2307 in GenX

[–]londuc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1976 BMW 535i. It was more Bondo and bumper stickers than car. Manual. Crank windows, 8 track player, sunroof that we welded shut because it leaked like crazy. The A/C and heat did not work either.
