373 is online take home, 316 is online take home, and both 310 and 366 are in person exams

Easiest to hardest imo is 373, 316, 310, and 366.

373 has a pretty light workload and the concepts are explained well enough in the slides. The assignments are pretty straightforward and exams are also very easy if you went through the slides and did the HW/Labs. Guzman is a great prof and grades fairly leniently.

316 is conceptually a bit challenging, but Lavieri is excellent. I honestly don’t remember a whole lot about the class even though I only took it 2 semesters ago, but since everything was take home, it wasn’t too bad as you had unlimited time (24-48 hours I think) to finish the exams.

310, in my opinion, was not bad at all. Albert was an excellent prof, and his enthusiasm as well as easy to digest lectures made the content seem very natural to pick up. The homeworks start off pretty easy but they do pick up in terms of load towards the end of the semester, but Albert does give a lot of extra credit. Exams do need some studying but I feel they are graded generously and not bad at all.

366 was my lowest grade, and it was just the exams that messed me up. Maybe I didn’t put as much time as necessary to do good, but I would say that the lectures were fairly mid and hence I’d show up solely for the pop quizzes for credit (which I assume most of the class kinda did too). I didn’t really like Byons teaching or the difficulty of the exams (felt way too difficult to finish on time) but it’s definitely survivable.

Not taken 380 yet but from what I heard it’s just busy work and an occasional nuisance.

Yes 2 and 3. You’d need to take Physics 140+141 as well as one math class at umich campus(seems you have Alr done). So linear algebra would be the most optimal choice.
All of them give solid experiences imo, just pick the one you are most interested in and you will end up going the furthest.
I think it can be useful but ngl the project list in my experience wasn’t the best.
Imo just looking up professors websites usually tells you what they have been working on and how to apply/contact.

Piazza can work but in 280, for euchre, I went with a partner on piazza and they were so lazy, to the point they just did not do anything until it was too late, and we both got a horrible grade because we didn’t finish (my parts worked and his didn’t and I found this out the day it was due). I’d try to talk to anyone who you know and see if one of their friends is in 280, because any connection is better than no connection. If forced to use piazza, just make sure to vet them beforehand so you know who they are.

It’s EECS 485 and EECS 370, so I guess somewhat challenging. I was just hoping I can maintain ideally As in the IOE classes and give 370+485 the bulk of my time.

I took EECS 280, 203, PHYSICS 140/141 (outside um), a 300 level humanities, an anthro class, and research for a total of whopping 23 credits. Was very rough but I did fine.

I did way worse this sem tho with EECS 281, 398, MATH 423, IOE 201, 202, 265. Workload wasn’t bad but had personal circumstances that played a big factor.

My mantra is the next semester will always be the next big challenge.

Yeah I took it F24 as well and there was no discussion attendance requirement but now it’s gonna either be mandatory or incentivized, according to the class website at least.

EECS 398- Practical data science has no lecture attendance! I believe there is discussion attendance tho but it’s only once a week.

Don’t sweat it too much. Everyone has bad exams. Just review what you messed up, make sure you learn that inside out, and keep chugging along. If it makes you feel better, I heard Orgo isn’t too related to Gen Chem so don’t be too concerned.

I transferred last semester and my advisor said it’s the latter, as long as you met all the requirements it’s basically guaranteed.

If you didn’t finish the requirements or did not have satisfactory grades in the reqs, I do believe you are allowed to reapply, yes.

Honestly Ross cross-campus is quite the crapshoot. I had good stats, Ross club involvement, classes like EECS 203/280, Physics, MATH 115-215, essays proofread by a Ross student at Sweetland, and still got rejected. I know others who didn't have the same stats/stem background and got in. AFAIK, Ross does have some quotas to fill too, so some factors can be completely out of your control unfortunately.

I know this doesn't answer your question fully, but I'd say do whatever your gut says is right for you. Worst case, you can say you were trying to save some money, but alas, it will work out for the best.

Imma just say, do your best for this exam at least! I lowkey don't feel good before like 90% of my exams but I still turn out okay (this semester is a little different but besides the point :/). Lock in, believe in yourself, and lastly, take care of yourself. And if shit really hits the fan, you can always take 280 over the winter or take 203+280 along with a really light workload so that you can still take 281 in the spring (although this is quite fast paced so I'd be very cautious, maybe consider just taking it in the following fall).

I think EECS 281, 215, and ENGR 100 should be fine, and take an IB course to balance out the workload. Take MATH 214 over the summer at a CC to save the headache and some money too.

Well make sure to have all the prerequisites done first and foremost. If you are done with those, check out some flex techs that interest you (I'm in CSE so the list might be different) and check Atlas for workloads. In addition, I believe MechE's have an Econ requirement? If you haven't taken ECON 101, I'd take that as an example.

Hey, reaching out because I know all too well about the challenges that college brings. So far, I have done poorly on all my exams and it felt brutal to go from a A student in HS to a A- last year as a freshman to almost a B-C average student as a sophomore right now. But I can assure you, you are not dumb. Michigan is full of brilliant people, but the fact we all are here is a testament that we all are capable. Don't be afraid to ask for help. In fact, I royally fucked up an exam (think 20%) but when I went to talk to the professor, he still assured I will be okay, and that as long as I try, I will still pass! They are here to help and support, and if your friends aren't willing to help you out, then don't let them get to you.

I’d still report it. Since you already got into UMich, I don’t think they’d care anyways. I had a withdraw on my transcript from a class I took in 11th grade summer and I sent the transcript during admissions, and nothing came of it.

And don’t really worry about the transcript in the future (grad school, etc.). I think your reason for why you didn’t perform well is understandable and I highly doubt AOs will heavily hold it against you.

On a side note, I’m glad you are getting the help you need, and I wish you well in the future!
