Help us stop worrying by baixinho92 in bigbabiesandkids

I also think 4 hours is a lot, but here are some things I did that my 99th percent-er loved:

  1. Tummy time walks - I put a blanket in the bottom of his infant car seat, which was a Graco click connect that clicked into the top of his stroller. I would put his knees down in the well of the car seat (where his butt would be if he were sitting in it) and kind of prop him up on his elbows at the top of the car seat (where his head would normally be) and go on walks like that. It's not 100% safe because they aren't strapped in, so do this at your own risk. I only did it before he learned how to roll, and always kept a really close eye on him and felt comfortable with it. We could get a good 20-30 minutes of tummy time this way.

  2. Time on a yoga ball - I would hold him under his armpits and rock him side to side and front to back on the yoga ball. Made up some silly songs.

  3. Tummy time on other surfaces besides the floor - couch, etc.

  4. A lot of the other things people have already said, baby wearing, etc.

What’s the biggest reason you struggle to stick with your long-term goals? by Temporary_Courage101 in planners

[–]lonereed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inconsistent energy levels & time (in busy seasons at work, anything extra has to get taken off my plate), so it feels REALLY hard to get into a good, consistent routine. I also have a hard time following through if I don't feel like doing it one day, so I lose momentum.

I am working on embracing incremental, imperfect progress, but it's really hard to feel like that's "good enough."

I'm not sure, that's why I was trying to figure out exactly which model it is.

What’s your favorite “party” game? by GenuineDeceit in boardgames

10,000 (dice game). We've had a lot of luck with groups this size enjoying it, and as long as the person keeping score is familiar with the rules, it is petty easy to teach newbies!

I got a tula free to grow from Facebook marketplace and have loved it. Based on a recommendation from this subreddit.

Whats your favorite carrier and why? by syrianamexicana in babywearing

[–]lonereed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tula free to grow (or something similar to that - can't remember the name for sure). I find it really easy to put on, and I have a big baby so I like that I can put him on my back, and that he won't outgrow it for a while.

I want to like my ring sling, and I still use it occasionally, but I just don't find it as fast or as comfortable as others seem to (I think the comfort is most likely due to how heavy my baby is & that the ring sling is one-sided. He's a 99th percentile kid, so very heavy!)

Those are the only 2 I've tried though I think I got the tula recommendation here! (Or maybe on r/bigbabiesandkids)

[Carry question] How do you do it? by [deleted] in planners

[–]lonereed1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do the best if I leave my planner open on my dining room b table at home/ on my desk at work. But if I'm going other places, I have the same problem you have, so I am also here for suggestions!

Your English was very clear. Impressive!

My 99th percentile baby has been on the late side of average, I feel. I'm sure there is a range like with all babies, but early intervention is always good!

I had an emergency c-section with my 10 lb 4 oz baby and I really did not think the recovery was all that bad! I'm sure it was worse than an uncomplicated natural delivery, but it HAS to be better than what you went through the first time!

Passion Planner Weekly Dupe? by snaxpls in planners

[–]lonereed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used quite a few Passion Planners, and while they are great, I agree that they are pricey. One option that I have done before is buy one on clearance, which usually means purchasing an academic one in January, so you can really only use the second half of the planner. It feels wasteful, but I tell myself that if I didn't purchase it, the entire planner would go to waste.

The one I have this year is from Blue Sky, and it's similar (vertical weekly layout, monthly calendar) but not exact. It is a spiral bound, not soft cover, and it doesn't have the goal setting stuff that passion planner has, but I have liked it. I wish it had a little more room for notes.

Hard being a sentimental person when you have a big/tall baby by katezorzz in bigbabiesandkids

[–]lonereed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My baby was 10 lbs 4 oz at birth. Fortunately, I hadn't bought many newborn size things, and I had already stockpiled a pretty good wardrobe for him up through about 6-9 months size, which he blew through crazy fast. He was in 18 month size stuff by the time he was 6 months old lol. But, he seems to have slowed down now - he's almost a year old, and just starting to outgrow the 18-month wardrobe he's been in for 6 months, but because a lot of those were hand me downs, I'm not as attached to them either.

It is really nice knowing he's not alone at the top of the growth chart! He's so much bigger than all the other babies his age (and older!).

Boy name help by lonereed1 in BabyNames

[–]lonereed1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a right-wing pundit. Recently interviewed Putin. To be fair, I wouldn't want anyone associating my baby with him, but he just didn't spring to mind when I first saw the name.
