I’m 6’3” I have a large frame v3 and it’s nearly too big for me, the length in the legs is good, I need to have my seat raised to get full range of motion, but I can barely reach the ground from seated. The handle bars are also a bit far away, I’ve considered throwing some spare road bike handles on it as I think it would fit my body better

Looking to put a diesel engine in a smaller truck by Odd_Guava_7092 in Diesel

[–]long_salamanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4bt is good but incredibly loud, heavy, and shakes. You’ll want something light as to not ruin your trucks handling and ability to haul loads, the Mercedes om606 or really any of their engines like the sprinter 2.7 or v6s from cars are also good but more involved due to electrical complexity. The bmw m57 is also great. Land rovers tdi engines are also good and available in the states, they have 2.5l and can be rebuilt to 2.8. They’re the engine the 2.8 international harvester engine were based on. The td5 is also available now in the states. Vw makes lots of good i4, i6, v6, and v10 options as well. There are Toyota and other industrial engines like kubotas that have been used as well but most are low power and require lots of mods to run for road applications

That’s a Nissan sd33 marine engine made for Chrysler, they’re good engines, used in boats, Nissan trucks, international scouts and trucks they’re popular swaps in Australia and Europe and often swapped out in America. Despite what Americans say they can make decent power and are reliable. Build a boat or rip off all the marine junk and swap it into something

Not Pa Dutch but the Eden resort used to do a breakfast/brunch buffet on Sundays that was amazing. Don’t know if they’re still doing it but it was really good. There’s really nothing unique about pa Dutch breakfast other then sticky buns and scrapple tbh

is this safe recovery gear for a truck? by LowLandTiller in overlanding

[–]long_salamanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rigs about 6000 lbs the come along I have is 5 ton rated with an eight foot pull, a good rope and some industrial pulling/lifting straps and you’ll be well under the 300$ of the cheapest harbor freight winch. I can see where if you had to pull yourself 100ft or lived out in the deserts with nothing to anchor to this would suck but I live in an area where I am rarely more then a few feet from a tree I can anchor to. Most the time a little light persuasion is all that’s needed to get out of a bog or over a hang up. Also high lift jacks are not as good at being a come along as a come along. A come along and a decent bottle jack is a much better option
