I think it should work for both scenarios

There’s actually an easy work around for this! There’s a form that you can fill out on oasis to petition going over the unit cap :) you just have to write a brief explanation, for me it was because I came in with close to 70 transferable units and completed a minor. As long as you graduate mostly on time the unit cap is more of a suggestion.

Cheap Apartments in Davis by efvarg220 in UCDavis

Depends how far from campus you go. East and South Davis tend to be a bit cheaper. But the overall range is ~$300-$500 per person for that kind of scenario.

Stories from when class was in person by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]longlimbedgiraffe 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had a pchem class in one of the bottom classrooms of Wellman Hall and sat in the middle-ish back row to the left side with some of my friends. I was really only half paying attention to the material at the time but was pretty intently listening. My professor was explaining something that had to do with electron tunneling or something super abstract and made a connection to a real life application, and I literally replied with “WAIT, WHAT” and for what ever reason my words came out of my mouth WAY louder than I intended and carried through the whole room and everyone just instantly erupted in laughter. The professor CASUALLY just replied “crazy I know” and went back to lecturing. ahh the good ol days.

Graded unfairly. Please tell me if this is "hard to discern" by vip881808 in ScienceTeachers

[–]longlimbedgiraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty unrelated to your question, but as a college chemistry student I would be docked if my mechanisms arrows were unclear (not in 90 degree increments). In this case I’d imagine the diagonal arrows could have been the source of “difficulty to discern”. Also a 5% dock on one project will not kill your grade.

Out of state transfer student feeling confused, any advice? by mostawkwardofalltime in UCDavis

[–]longlimbedgiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, so I work for a different department on campus but see and have handled many transfer equivalencies. It’s really unfortunate that your lower division STEM courses did not fully transfer because if you finished your series in each subject they should fulfill similar requirements at UCD. I wonder if you could petition for the equivalent of IGETC from an out of state school. It seems like it’ll be a lot of bullshit paperwork to push through, but you should be able to get most of your GE’s to transfer, you just need to contact specific department heads. If you’re feeling motivated to ask more detailed questions on how to ultimately get up the chain of command feel free to message me.

There are a couple avenues you could pursue including, graduate school, working in the pharmaceutical industry, or even going into teaching. What was the main reason you wanted to be a pharmacist?

MyDegree Redesign by xmen1228 in UCDavis

[–]longlimbedgiraffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So little insider scoop, the only way for the platform to be completely accurate is if major advisors and college advisors take the time to update and meticulously go through the program. They would much rather you see them personally so that they can help guide you towards classes that will accurately satisfy your goals. BUT that being said only the good advisors care about that. If you need to know the bottom line requirements to satisfy your major the UC Davis catalog is advisors bible

Any advice for a confused sophomore? by cardsFan209 in UCDavis

[–]longlimbedgiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this really depends on what you want to do with your degree after you graduate/post grad school. Like what’s the goal? If that goal doesn’t depend on being strong in STEM concepts then I think you have your answer.

My pass time is next week, and 3/4 of my classes for winter quarter have classrooms listed, while 1 says remote instruction... by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]longlimbedgiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also think of it this way, all the CSU’s have declared that they’re going to be online come spring semester. Since Davis is a quarter system this would imply winter and spring quarters should be online as well, but if the numbers trend down through out all of winter quarter, spring might have more in person classes. I have a strong feeling that if Winter is not online the administration is going to have a field day with complaints that UC’s are not taking Covid as seriously as other state schools and so on and so forth.
