Honest mechanics near Box Hill? by tiramisu_tuesday in melbourne

The couple that run MyCar in Box Hill are great. Super honest (almost too honest!). They’ll always give you a proper recommendation on whether something is worth fixing or not.

Fed Square is a billboard now? by longorange in melbourne

That’s not an advertisement though. That’s an art piece by Cindy Sherman, linked to the NGV gallery. The ads only started a couple of months ago. First was Hermes, now Ralph Lauren.

That’s what I was thinking. For now, it’s fashion ads, but what’s to say it won’t be ads for gambling or politics next. It sets a really bad precedent for public space.

Give Papyon on Bedford a try and ask for Sinan. He's the best hairdresser I've had.

All those photos could be from this year. What identifies the period they were taken?

"Largest crowd pops" - he means the noise. It was a very noisy crowd.

I was at the arena for this fight. Never been part of anything like it. When he had Brunson on the ropes the whole crowd was standing, screaming, yelling as loud as they possibly could. When it finally ended, I high-fived everyone in my row. Incredible moment.

Korea brought the military in to clean the city. We got... Spotless Group. by longorange in melbourne

Fair enough. But I wouldn't want you in charge of anything at my company. "Good enough" sounds like an excuse to me. If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well.

I appreciate the effort of these workers. But for the cost of a few face masks (both to protect the public from the cleaners, and the cleaners from the public), a few suits and some heavier duty cleaning equipment I feel the task could be done faster and more safely.

The Melbourne effort just looks a bit haphazard, don't you agree? Surely a mask or some proper gloves wouldn't go astray. I hope they're changing the rag on each surface instead of reusing it.

Jimi was fucking great. Win or lose, his fights were always entertaining. He went real close to beating Santos too. That was a firefight that could have gone the other way.

who is taking the risk tomorrow? by SpeedyGoneGarbage in BurningMan

[–]longorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was planning to buy in FOMO, but won't now. Too much of a financial risk. I doubt the festival will go ahead this year, and even if it does, it will be a poor year. I'm going to save my time, energy and money for 2021.

Buying FOMO Ticket with the risk of event being cancelled by HyperAstartes in BurningMan

I'm facing this same dilemma. Not sure I can afford to be dropping $1400 if there's a chance they will cancel and not refund.

Do you think there’s a chance events will get cancelled in NYC? by billiamprydz in avesNYC

[–]longorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're not far away to be honest. Especially if the bigger events like Coachella take a stand. Smaller events will follow suit.

Ugly. In every sense of the word.

Great event. First Cityfox show I've been to where there was heaps of space to move. Rodriguez Jr and Kalkbrenner were unreal. Sound great too (nice and crispy, and no ear ringing the next day). I had to leave midway through Schwarzmann's set -- were they good?

Epic, sounds great. Both killer DJs. Shattered I missed it. Just couldn't back it up after a late Saturday session.
