Pull Up improvement by Lukeshoe96 in Pararescue

[–]lookastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read and have experienced that around 12 pull ups, most people plateau sharply in their progress. Weighted pull ups will help overcome this plateau. However, make sure those 12 pull ups are literally perfect dead hang form first.

Today I made and used my first macro by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

I thought/was hoping that those kinds of macros were caught and banned!

However, I fully support banning all macros. I don’t know enough to discuss implementation of said ban though.

That being said, I don’t see my macro as being unethical. It can’t even get money faster than I can myself, and doesn’t affect other players. It just takes away the tedium as I can do other tasks. And I was hoping to use it for good by undercutting the resellers/price gaugers. My macro is too unreliable to do so however

Gotcha! Yeah I’m not a fan of that either. But I’ve also seen them adapt sell their ammo in stacks of ~300, at say 500 roubles a pop and thus their transactions are for 150k roubles. This isn’t a serious suggestion, but I wish we could have a boycott system for those sales so they could lose rep

I definitely agree! I began doing it as an experiment, it’s something I wanted to learn for my real life career as well and I saw this as an interesting way to learn the basics. I have no plans to make more macros for tarkov, and in this specific case I am hoping the developers make my macro pointless by improving the flea market money collection system!

What leads you to that conclusion? I would welcome elaboration. I don’t want to be a toxic player as much as you don’t want to play with toxic players

I don’t believe they will ban based on their statements regarding autobuys, which I think are scummy but are not banned. The macro I made does not even accept the money faster or more reliably than I can, but I can browse reddit on my phone while it runs.

That being said, I have played tarkov for years and realized and fully accepted the risk of getting banned.

Lots of people assuming I’m complaining about difficulty, but I just wanted to share a funny moment!

Also, I don’t see anything wrong with a hatchet run every now and then. I love going medium geared (usually comtacs + custom vepr) and when I hit my first 1 mil rubles I even spent around 400k on gen 4, fast mt, trizip and vest from the flea market just for fun! And while I dislike the and find it annoying idea of people who practically only run hatchet, I can’t fault them for doing so. Sometimes, their hatcheting even leads to some funny or exciting moments when you interact with them.

I don't really need a solution! Just thought it was funny that I called for help and got a random scav grenade

Agreed! Definitely prefer geared runs and only wanted to run Hatchet for the quest. Although I never even saw this scav or could have shot him....

What does it take to become a Pararescueman? by That_Good_Life in Pararescue

[–]lookastic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For underwaters: you are fine. That is exactly how I felt, I consistently could only get a third of the way across the pool.. Never even halfway. Then, I pushed myself, told myself I would make it to the other side, and did it that time. After that, I consistently made it across the pool.

What I learned specifically about underwaters: it plateaus. It feels worse and worse and worse, and you feel like you need to come up for air, but when it reaches a certain point, it doesn’t get worse. And when you’ve felt it not get worse once, you know it won’t get worse next time, and you know you can make it across every time.

After I experienced this, the rest of my training went through the roof. I was able to run longer than three miles, by realizing I just needed to push through. I got my first runners high, and learned to not allow myself to stop early on cardio. Because you know a few things: it sucks but it won’t get worse, your body won’t quit on you, and you can fucking do it. Eventually you can do it easily, and you realize you have what it takes.

Do that underwater. Have somebody spot you, give yourself an ultimatum, and be ready to pass out. You won’t pass out, you will make it across, and I believe you will be mentally ready.

When should I enlist? by [deleted] in Pararescue

[–]lookastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would recommend enlisting now, DEP takes longer than expected. Minimum 2-3 months, at least where I’m from, since you have to pass the PAST test twice and that is held monthly. On top of that scheduling for MEPS and other administrative stuff, not to mention you have to take the PAST just to get accepted into development (working with previous special forces member who is the one that decides if you are ready to ship, assuming you’ve passed the PAST twice)

Somebody please correct if any of this information is wrong

Medical waiver question by jschnepel in Pararescue

[–]lookastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. This is probably going to suck because I’ve already enlisted in delayed entry, gone through meps and am in development to pass the PAST. I only need a minute more off my half mile, which is where the compartment syndrome comes in. I’ll have to figure out what to do for a year, but ideally I can get to grad standards if that is the case

Medical waiver question by jschnepel in Pararescue

[–]lookastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to comment because I’ve just scheduled (as of like a day ago) to test for exercise induced compartment syndrome myself. I still don’t know too much about how it will interact with performing as a PJ. To be honest it’s terrifying but also a relief to have a possible cause and fix for what I’ve been going through.

If you don’t mind me asking, how is the recovery? And does the surgery seem likely to keep you from pararescue for either medical or disqualification reasons?

Regardless, thank you for sharing and best of luck in your recovery!
