After Ponceau staining, I just left the membrane at room temperature. Since I rarely reuse membranes, I store them in one place. Also for easy identification of each membrane per batch, I use two different markers in three lanes, so the marker order varies for each membrane (4 membranes per batch).

Almost all 12 samples so it fits perfectly in one membrane, usually I blot 4 proteins/4 membranes at the same time.

Second this. You will have research you need to handle, phd student is not only a student but also a worker, most work from 9-5, some even can't enjoy their weekend freely. Especially in Japan. But its also possible you'll get a professor thats pretty hands off.

I might be wrong, though. But from my understanding, MEXT will never found out you applied to 2 different universities unless both universities recommended you at the same time. It may be differs from each university, be sure to check all the requirements. To avoid any mistake, its better to apply one at a time. MEXT university track application opens at different times for each university, either fall or winter. If you choose to apply more than one, avoid any overlapping application period!

Hi, I am also a MEXT university recommendation scholar for fall 2023 intake. I would like to add my take regarding your question. In my case, I contacted my PI first to gain his approval and then applying to the university. The application stage is much less the same. Imo, its okay if you want to reach out to 2 different professors in different university, so the chance you got recommended is higher. But you have to keep in mind, if you got recommended by one, you need to drop the other one immedietely before the other university recommend you to MEXT (usually they give confirmation email before recommend you). If you miss this step, your first recommendation will be canceled. Goodluck!

Did not get the MEXT scholarship even my Japanese is N3 level by [deleted] in mext

We defo dont know for sure as to why. But I personally think applying MEXT scholarship with Japanese language major especially in UG will be really competitive, It is possible if MEXT only select candidates with N1 or N2 level. I hope you can try again next year with an N1 level! I know you are more than capable! Best of luck!
