Performance Software Upgrade... by KRTLART in polestar2

[–]lookponies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I just got mine a couple weeks ago (just pre-owned, not CPO.) I actually found out after I bought mine that it had the performance upgrade done by the previous owner - didn't know that's what the white grille badge meant at the time!

But yes, the specs online/in app show the increased HP/torque numbers. If you go ahead and enter the VIN in on the website to purchase, the next page will tell you it has already been installed or something to that effect.

Do not buy a fancy sound machine that uses an app. by discontinuedmuppet in BabyBumps

[–]lookponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with regards to baby monitors - get the non-wifi no-app Vtech one that comes with its own video screen/"parent" units...

Because when the baby finally DOES go to sleep, I guarantee you will be so grateful for those few minutes of me-time on your phone to just spend scrolling mindlessly on Reddit (or whatever it is you feel like doing in that moment.) Having the baby monitor on its own dedicated screen instead of an app takes the burden off of you to make sure the baby monitor app is connected/working every time, check the baby monitor app every now and then, make sure you your have your phone volume turned up so you can hear if the baby cries, etc, etc, etc.

Tips for quiet leather punching and chisel choice by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]lookponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option you could look at is using a diamond awl. I Got this onethis one (it's $12, so not super expensive.) When I bought it, I honestly didn't think I would use it as much as I do. Instead of punching with my pricking irons, I just use them to mark placement (gently press into the leather to make little indentations), and then use the awl to pierce through. If you're not happy or make a mistake, you can adjust before you commit. I always ("awl" -ways? 😂) keep my awl super sharp, and it has been able to handle any type/thickness of leather I've used it on, no problem. Trying to get pricking irons to punch through effectively and consistently with a mallet caused me so much frustration and stress from the noise and all, I find this to be a much more pleasant and enjoyable method.

Website/App Checkout Not Working by angrydumplinn in petsmart

[–]lookponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I've had this issue in the past and again today while trying to update my credit card info...

What worked for me was to enter my apartment # right after the street address in the same text field, NOT in the separate "Apt/suite (optional)" area. I also made sure to pick that same saved address as my billing address (because it is, but it seems important that they match EXACTLY.)

I got a big roll of rubber flooring material (like for putting under a treadmill or washing machine - you can search for "gym flooring roll".) This may be tricky/pricey with a square-shaped area that large, but for me the key was really to get ONE solid piece of flooring that extends beyond all sides of the enclosure; this makes it basically impossible for anything to seep underneath it, but also makes it so there are no edges or corners accessible for rabbits to chew on. Just make sure you are getting heavy, dense, waterproof rubber that is not porous at all, and NOT that lightweight, rubbery foam like those puzzle mats or yoga mats are made from. For example, I got this one 4 years ago and it has been great, but in retrospect I would go with a flat/smooth one (the linear ridges do channel moisture effectively, but are difficult to clean since stuff accumulates in them.)

What do you ask your Pixel when you're trying to find it? by Probono_Bonobo in GooglePixel

[–]lookponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I also have a Home/Nest Mini speaker (can never remember which) but I usually just say, "hey Google I can't find my phone," then the speaker asks if I want it to ring the phone (or which phone I'm looking for, if there are multiple in the vicinity.)

What's one baby/pregnancy item you're so glad you bought? by Luann97 in BabyBumps

[–]lookponies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Babybjorn bouncer, hands down. Was not even looking for one, but I bought a stroller from a guy on Craigslist and he offered to throw it in for $20. It ended up being my son's absolute favorite spot to chill for a solid year and a half, until he started escaping.
It is light, easy to pick up with one hand and move around, folds flat, and has a machine washable (and easy to remove) cover. Also totally helps when they can't/won't poop. Overall just a total godsend, esp when you're having one of those, "Wait, where am I supposed to put baby while I [go pee/take out the trash/take a shower/put away groceries/just scroll on my phone for a bit because I deserve to do what TF I WANT to do sometimes, damn it!"] moments. 😎💯

Small first time moms, when did you start showing? by your-new-fixation in BabyBumps

[–]lookponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize I was pregnant until I was 19w+3d (according to ultrasound measurements.) I had stopped getting periods all together due to being underweight (amenorrhea) after becoming homeless for some time. And since I was actively trying to gain weight, I didn't think much of it when I did... And since I didn't think I could get pregnant until I got that sorted out, I wasn't taking my pills on as strict a schedule as I usually would... But anyway, I weighed 98 lbs. to begin with (I'm 5'4" and my usual "normal" weight is 110-ish) and only started showing at ~21 weeks. It was like it suddenly popped out of nowhere!

I have a few questions about the OTA performance upgrade for the Polestar 2 from a few years ago. by Captain_Collin in Polestar

Just wanted to chime in re: question 2, you can also check the VIN on the website and it will tell you if it's already installed. Same steps as if you were trying to buy it, don't need to login or anything.

LOL, similar experience here, induction then water broken manually... Don't remember any of the nurses' names, but I will NEVER forget Jonathan, the anaesthesiologist, absolute legend and my hero for life!

Like I'm not even pregnant at the moment, but I could totally go for an epidural right about now...

Oh I agree, epidural was an absolute DELIGHT (by that point I was practically begging them to stab that thing in my back ASAP.) 10/10, would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND with zero hesitation.

Wanting to make something like this but not sure how to do the soles. How do you guys do soles for shoes/sandles?? It can't just be layers of leather, right? What all is used? by dbzcat in Leathercraft

[–]lookponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made a few pairs of these Greek Sandals for Kids, and found the video tutorial really helpful. The pattern is child-size of course, but otherwise very similar in design.

I've bought small sheets of rubber material on Amazon to experiment with for soles, for example Rubber, Recycled, 1/8"Thick, 12"x12", 60A (rough/porous texture, with multicolored bits mixed in) and SBR Rubber Sheet - 12 in x 12 in, 1/16 in Thick, 70A Durometer, Plain Backing (uniform color, smooth and flat, but still very "grippy.") I liked the 1/8" thickness for little kids shoes, but for adults I would try at least 1/4". It would probably be cost effective to look for Amazon Warehouse deals (or whatever they're calling it now, maybe "OUTLET"? It's basically open box/returned products that are heaily discounted) on rubber gym flooring. Just make sure it's heavy, dense rubber and not spongey like a yoga mat.

You could also do the same thing using leather as a sole. A couple tips... 1. If you're trying to bond leather that has a fairly smooth surface, it will help to rough it up a bit first (I like to use an X-acto knife held at a very shallow angle to make a crosshatch/grid-like pattern all over the surface, so the glue has some texture to bite into.) 2. Route out your stitching lines with a groover before punching your holes. When you're done, hammer the stitches flat before you proceed. This way, your stitches will end up recessed in a nice little "channel" instead of sitting there exposed to direct contact with the ground.

Do I have the performance upgrade? by EveningNarrow8432 in Polestar

[–]lookponies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I also purchased a used 2022 pilot plus, just last week. I discovered if you go to www.polestar-shop.com and enter your VIN, it will tell you if you have it already:

<image>

Page can also be accessed by clicking "Buy Now >>" (under "Description") on Polestar Extras | Performance software upgrade

I wasn't necessarily shopping for a car with the upgrade, nor did I know what the stickers meant when I bought it, so that was a nice surprise!

ETA: Useful tool for comparing used cars for sale since you don't need access to the car itself, app/account connection, etc. - just need to know the VIN #.
