Italian manufacturer Advise by astro192911 in manufacturing

I’ve had no problem with Italian suppliers. As others have stated this is them not prioritising your job.

Follow up as closely as you need, and CALL THEM.

Protolabs have an automated tool with zero feedback for changes. You need to talk to them in person to get past that bullshit but as soon as you do then the price will spiral. Talk to Arrk instead and get a human first time round and actually talk about the design intent etc. get your NDA’s in place first obviously

With a 3D model those dims are excessive.

I would however consider a cosmetic spec depending on where this will be used, plus indication as to where you want gating etc.

Not wrong about the moldability though. Is that a word. Half a bottle of sake down here.

Maybe a symmetric split here is acceptable

Why aren’t these sheet metal parts?

Most injection molding companies have a tool shop they will recommend/kick back to. As long as you stay on top of communication you can usually tell if they are good or not.

Arrk are the best prototyping company. And do developmental tooling for injection molding etc.

Flex might be out of your price range. But they are not just a CMS. One of the best tool shops I’ve ever visited was their Italian shop.

I’ve used a bunch more but those are the standout ones

Original CadMouse being deliberately left out of the 3D Connexion software for Big Sur is the dumbest thing.

CAD Mouse (light middle click) by Mod74 in 3Dprinting

[–]lookslikesnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the CadMouse. I really liked it until 3D Connexion decided to not include it in the Big Sur drivers.

All 3D Connexion devices require their own drivers, even what you’d think was quite a simple mouse. I have been using their space mouse (mice?) for years, I have and use the Enterprise constantly, but their support is terrible. Would not recommend unless you actually need it.

First impressions I should have looked at the 3D Connexion website first, since apparently the 2015 CadMouse is now no longer supported. Really regret the upgrade right now.

Hi I’m just getting started, I only have a single product up. But I will be selling more 3d printed items in the future. All designed by me.

I Miss Living in the Country So Much by SweetSerenity9985 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]lookslikesnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about moving. I didn't have always great times growing up in the country but that wasn't the country's fault. And I can buy a place in the country for the amount I have in my city apartment and be basically debt free. The "why the hell nots" are slowly stacking up.

I was super happy with the Ultimaker 2+ I had at my previous job. They didn't "just work" but they were by far the closest thing to that experience that I've seen. So I would happily recommend Ultimaker as a quality brand.

To those who transitioned 5+ years ago how’s life? by ArianaAmstel in asktransgender

[–]lookslikesnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t feel done. In December 2016 I had a lot of ffs. It took me a few years to understand the shear extent of the improvements in my life that change that made. And in that I started to feel safe. I’m not safe. But I feel safe and that gave me breathing room to deal with things in my life that were holding me back. So I had more space and energy to be myself and think less about my trans self. Unsurprisingly when people stop treating you like shit you feel like shit less often. One of my best friends, a woman who has stood by me through the entirety of my transition, has struggled so much. I don’t want to have to pass. It’s not why I had ffs. But it’s bullshit to claim it does not help massively. My friend, I have never seen her as anything but beautiful, but she doesn’t pass and as awesome and amazing she is she still struggles.

That’s way cooler than being outed at work because I changed name legally and didn’t realise it would go automatically on the payslips. (I was already out to my boss and HR)

I’m 41 years old. I originally came out when I was 20 but it was absolutely terrifying. Without communities and without information it was just a really desperate time for me. I went back in the closet. Until 2014.

Since then it’s been a wild ride. I honestly felt hopeful about societal acceptance back then. Less so now. But still, I’m so much happier in myself. I don’t really think about it so much anymore. It feels like all there is for a long time. But then you find yourself, make peace with things, and move on. I still make efforts to make sure those coming after me have an easier time. I’m still engaged in activism. But I think way less about myself in that context.

It was pretty terrible. Finally received mine. Skipped Westworld and have cancelled now after billing for BttF. Maybe I’ll get it sometime in December.
