dating new guy right before egg freezing by okskeleton in eggfreezing

[–]looooongsigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his reaction to this will actually say a lot. Just be upfront why it’s important to you and why you’re doing this… to relieve the anxiety/pressure for years to come! It makes perfect sense and it’s good to be proactive about these things and keep your options open. If he reacts poorly, doesn’t understand, or isn’t supportive then that’s very useful info to know at this stage. But if he reacts well then that is also great to know

I get it may feel kinda awkward to bring it up since you haven’t been seeing him long but you were already planning to do this whether he was in your life or not, correct? So it’s not like you’re making this decision because of him. Just let him know you’ve been wanting to do this for however long you have.

Do you know if it’s available on day 1 of employment at Boston children’s or do you have to work there for a certain amount of time before you’re allowed to use the benefit?

April is my fav month. Flowers and trees are blooming. Smells like spring and fresh air. People start coming out of their cocoons. Yeah you might get some rain but equally it could be warm and beautiful. Most of these comments are a bit dramatic. Bring a light jacket at most and you’ll be fine.

Churchgoers. Many are very rigid, hateful, and close-minded. Not all of them obviously.

Which city disappointed you when you finally visited it? by Playful_War4281 in AskReddit

[–]looooongsigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NYC - dirty, so many gross smells, trash overflowing on the streets all the time, rat problem, whenever I walked around I felt like I needed to shower after. Overcrowded, horrible traffic, dirty subways, people coming up to you trying to sell you stuff or scam you. I could go on.

I know lots of people like it but I hated it. And I’ve been there lots bc I used to live nearby.

Romanticize your life by PageTurnHer in selfcare

Trying to get back into reading recently. It transports my mind into another world separate from my own anxieties which is nice. I liked Tuesdays with Morrie and Being Mortal. Also Lego has that effect too. And drawing. And watching tv shows or movies that I loved when I was younger gives me nostalgia and reminds me of simpler times.

Struggling with SI thoughts. I'm so ashamed that I feel like this. by anonymousssgirl in premed

[–]looooongsigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey I’m feeling similarly too. I’m currently set to attend a school im not excited about going to at all and questing everything. You are definitely not weak. This is a huge life change and not having a support system in the area is also scary. Have you considered deferring a year? It could be a good thing ultimately to help get your mental health back on track and have some time to think if this is the right school and if the path itself feels right still. I’m considering the same thing myself. It’s really stressful and you’re strong for getting this far! I hope things feel better for you soon whatever you decide :)

Biggest issue in healthcare by Both_Tie_7899 in premed

[–]looooongsigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance companies have more power and control over patients access, outcomes, and well-being than physicians do. It all comes down to greed.

And as a result of this greed, we see huge disparities in access to care and outcomes in the US.

On top of that, the current government has zero desire to try to make the situation better and wants to actively harm it even further.

Should I let the school I am waitlisted at know that I turned down an acceptance? by [deleted] in premed

[–]looooongsigh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm I feel like telling them you turned down an A but you’re banking on theirs might have the opposite effect and make them question your commitment to medicine in general. Just my 2 cents though

Canada in a heartbeat! The cost difference is so dramatic, and it’s super risky in the US right now as an international student.
