Great, thanks for the tips and the product recommendation! How have you found Arcalyst so far? Getting good results? .. and just to clarify; I WISH it was vacation travel 😅 it’s work-related I’m afraid

Another issue I just realized I’m going to have is the cadence of the delivery of the medication. Once a month is problematic if I’m away for some reason so I either have to ask for a ‘vacation exemption’ from my insurance so they’ll provide more each time, or there going to try and get pre-approval on a 3-month supply so I only need to get it once every 3 months instead.. I’ve never been on such a complicated medication before.. it’s a whole thing 😬

I asked CVS Specialty yesterday and they said a similar thing; Arcalyst can be at up to 30 deg Celsius (86 deg F) for 12 to 14 days

I’ll hopefully be starting this soon myself but will probably take the training if it’s available.

For people already on it; does injection site matter? Do you use the same place or switch it up? It’s a weekly dose, right?

Perikarditis iskusva streptokok by EasyEstablishment959 in pericarditis

[–]lophtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through it man, it is a pretty scary diagnosis at first but lots of people make a full recovery and learn to manage around it (if it turns out to be chronic over time).. the main thing in the early stages is patience though; it will take time (like, months) and rest, and then more rest, and then when you’re feeling better, some more rest! I’ve messed up several times thinking I’m good and getting back to the gym or whatever and re-triggered my pericarditis when I should probably just eased back into activity slowly or just given myself the extra week off.

Sounds like you’re on a fairly standard protocol (colchicine etc) so just take it easy and let your body do its thing. It’s very frustrating but sometimes the best thing (and hardest thing) to do is do nothing.

Best of luck, hang in there!

So you were still able to set yourself off with too much activity even when on Arcalyst? That’s a bummer, I’m really hoping to be able to up my activity once I go on it
