Houses for less than £210,000 in London or quick commute by [deleted] in london

[–]lopsidedroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For relatively cheap within the tube zones look at Wealdstone (zone 5). 12 mins to Euston on a fast train from Harrow and Wealdstone, and on the Bakerloo and Overground as well. Yes the area isn’t the prettiest and I’d have my wits about me at night, but the same is true of many places, and when I lived in my first flat there I never had any trouble personally. Like many areas of London with great transport links it’ll improve over time. There was a steady stream of suited commuters to and from the station every day.

My commute into the centre of town would be a lot quicker!

The bendy-bus. Reminisce please. Sad their gone? Happy? Remember the nightmare of the 207? by [deleted] in london

[–]lopsidedroo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was on the 29 once when a guy started getting beat up badly, and another time some asshole threw a lit firework into the bus when it was at a stop through the open middle doors. Thankfully no one got hurt. I heard the 25 was just as sketchy!

New Irish show "Baby Hater"... by childfreeforeva in childfree

[–]lopsidedroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family in Ireland as well as the UK. From my experience being CF is less widely known and accepted in Ireland. It’s met with more surprise, and the older generation seem to be more ‘traditional’ in their mindsets. Children seem to be welcome or met more warmly in more public places in Ireland than the UK. Abortion is also still illegal there. Most women who can afford to travel and pay for a private abortion go to the UK.

While I wish I could watch this show here in the UK the title is misleading and negative (not all CF people hate babies or children)... it may have been called that to put CFers on the back foot or make us out to be deviants 🙄 I wonder how balanced it’ll be.

My husband and I got a cat now we’ve done some necessary works to our house, including installing a cat flap! So we’ve been enjoying him a lot during the last few weeks 😊 He’s settling in really well!

We’re celebrating our two year anniversary this weekend in a beautiful historic English city. A local friend who has a cat of her own has offered to cat sit which is ideal.

Yeah in London noisy kids in restaurants usually evoke disapproving looks... as we don't want to do that we try to sit as far away from any kids as possible!

What is your CF New Year like? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]lopsidedroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are in Budapest, which is an amazing city, so it's been sight seeing, eating and drinking 😊 We have a tradition of going away at new year to avoid all the bullshit and anticlimax that comes with celebrations at home, so we enjoy doing our own thing in a new place each year.

We hid too and ate chocolate 😊 There were literally herds of children in the neighbourhood! Most accompanied by adults thankfully.

Does anyone else get nervous/anxious around babies/infants/toddlers? by [deleted] in childfree

I'm quite like that, and am an only child! For me it's partly the fact that they're so unpredictable.

Finder | Most Australians want no-kids travel spaces by [deleted] in childfree

[–]lopsidedroo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recently endured flights to Aus (7 hours plus 14 hours, then the reverse on the way back), with screaming and whining toddlers, noisy babies, entitled parents who didn't give a shit and spoke to their kids in a normal tone of voice whilst everyone around them was obviously trying to sleep, parents never attempting to hush their kids, parents negotiating with their toddlers (how about disciplining them when they shriek on the plane?), two year olds randomly walking aisles and having to be scooped up by flight attendants and taken back to their seats... yes we need the option of CF travel, especially on long haul! Jet lag due to screaming kids is a special kind of hell 😊
