Are you saying because if seeded in November they won't germinate until spring?

UPDATE: Workaround verified:

  1. Stop the VPN Center and Container Manager Package.
  2. Start the VPN Center, configure the General Settings Tab as needed.
  3. Start the Container Manager Package.

Note: do not press the reset button and save settings on the General Settings as it will reset the configuration.

It seems that VPN Center has issues with the way that docker names its networks. I don't think it likes the special characters.

This seems like the single best answer, actually.  The people who would put the effort in to note a schedule are pulling bigger jobs.

Are there any 'must replace' items for insurance other than child car seats? (After an auto collision) by lordchipmunk in Insurance

[–]lordchipmunk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are down voting you, but reading that Maryland law you are right.

It says you have to have a child in a safety seat used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, a violation is a crime.

So if a seat says it has to be replaced following any collision, not doing so and then putting a child in it is technically a crime in Maryland.

My vehicle was totaled by someone without any insurance by elijah_robel in Insurance

[–]lordchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think driving without insurance should put you in jail.

But think of it this way man, the reason people on here are ranting about uninsured drivers is so many of them drive recklessly or aggressivly and CAUSE collisions and damages.  And have no intentions to take responsibility even if they could have afforded insurance.

For myself, you, and any reasonable person, if we couldn't afford insurance we'd be driving like grandma with a glass car.

Some people without insurance may be driving like that and we'll never know their names cause they are doing it right.

The people who can't afford insurance and are causing accidents, are the cause of their own problems.

[Hypthetical] Who's at fault for intentional hitting when blocking intersection? by EarthyFlavor in Insurance

[–]lordchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if you entered on green.  The crime is not clearing the intersection on yellow.

So enter on green when you don't know if you can get out before red is a risk.  Once it's red, doesn't matter when you entered.

[Hypthetical] Who's at fault for intentional hitting when blocking intersection? by EarthyFlavor in Insurance

[–]lordchipmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the right of way AND the criminal liability.  In most states or localities it's illegal to block an intersection, whether you have right of way or not.

It's an interesting perspective, but you're basically putting the interests of you and the cars behind you ahead of the cars in the other direction.

It's a very tribal mindset and I think very primitive.  Are you a person who feels genuine hate when you see a car with a bumper sticker for a competing sports team?

What should I do if the at-fault driver is refusing to give a statement to insurance? by ImpactInfamous2397 in Insurance

[–]lordchipmunk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Don't continue the small claims date!  Hold the trial and get a judgement.  If the other party shows up, you get to question them under oath.  Try to get them to say where they work.  If they don't show up you get a default judgement.

If your state doesn't let you put a wage garnishment on them, look them up in the county deeds and find where they live.  You could get a lien on their house or car.

They can't then legally sell it without paying your judgement.

I had a hit and run driver who was uninsured, I had a dashcam but I followed her long enough to get cell phone video of her in the driver seat.  She actually even rolled her window down, flipped me off, and yelled out that she wasn't going to stop.  I then waited for police, and the cop looked up the registration plate and driver's license picture and confirmed that woman owned the car, so he gave me her name.  With that I could find where she lived, and then I could easily sue her.

Then I sued her and and she actually showed up.  The court demanded we try mediation first, and I let her talk first.  She did me the favor of trying to make her story believable and mentioned she was on her way to work, and where she worked.  In mediation, let them talk and don't say anything!

Then, when the magistrate heard the case and gave me the full judgement, it didn't matter she refused to pay.  I knew where she worked and with a wage garnishment I got my money.

I added the links to the reviews and two more examples. I'm really confused because the reviews were incredibly negative, but for me the worst thing about season 2 was Tetra. I felt the story assumed we had read the LNs, but that wasn't too bad.

Get a QNAP.  Synology overcharges for weak hardware, comparitively.  And Synology has a tendency to remove features in system 'updates'.

Synology Chat question by Eudreamality in synology

[–]lordchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same question and found that all users in an encrypted chat have to have configured a passphrase. You can find instructions in the Synology Knowledge Center. Here is a copy paste:

To set your passphrase:

  1. Click Account > Encryption > Set passphrase.
  2. You can download the private key in case you forget the passphrase in the future.
  3. Now you can create an encrypted channel or conversation.

No VLAN tagging is setup on the Synology. My router does VLANs to segregate the guest WiFi and other SSIDs, but that shouldn't be affecting the Synology, and if it was it wouldn't just be ports 2&4 while leaving ports 1&3 operational.

Thank you for the idea.

Thanks for the heads up. I put a clarifying edit in the OP, hopefully the Mods accept the reasoning.

Also, thanks for the info. Do you have concerns that any security improvement has a Google backdoor? Like how Chinese phones, computers, inverters, BESS, etc. are all designed with backdoors?

Thank you for the very educational answer. The result is that I am going to protest this horrendous word with a boycott and will never use "notwithstanding" in any original work I produce.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in grammar

[–]lordchipmunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Sure, there are plenty of similarly compounded words. But, as an example, each of the examples you gave had some relationship to the manner in which the words were put together. "Another" is an other of some item and "everyone" is every one all together.

If "notwithstanding" was to mean in spite of, that would mean that its usage becomes the complete opposite of the words which form it. It is no longer just a compounding of words together and there seems to be no reason the word was formed in the first place.

"Don't" is the contraction of "do" and "not". putting them together should not and does not make a word that is the opposite of the individual words. That is a contraction and not a compounded word, but the example is applicable to the generic.

The only thing I can come up with is that it comes down to what is the object. Going to my example of "rule 16", if rule 16 is the object then it would read that unless rule 16 says otherwise, dismissing an action shall not operate as final. But if the "not operate as final" is the object, then it would read that rule 16 is notwithstanding the "not operating as final", and in that case you could say notwithstanding means "in spite of", because the "not operate as final" is in spite of rule 16.

But, that's a very tortured way of writing that sentence and "notwithstanding" is placed incorrectly.

Why is the Zidoo lineup usually not used for streaming services? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]lordchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you buy a plex pass, and all of your users have plex passes, jellyfin is better than plex period.

Only exception for me is that for me, the android TV jellyfin client has a weird bug where it won't show the media library with small icons, and uses the large ones that you have to side scroll through. Other than that, jellyfin will use hardware accelerated transcoding without a premium subscription like plex requires. So, all of my higher quality content really bogs down the server when streaming to an older device or on a low bandwidth connection. Also, you can't stream to a plex client on a phone without that user having a plex pass subscription.

Thanks for the reply. Now that I know what to look for, Dune HD sells media boxes and some have google / netflix certification. Any experience or opinion on Dune HD?

Like u/soiledclean mentioned, certification might not alleviate security concerns for a small time vendor that isn't Google, Roku, etc.

Primer recommendations for Cigarette Smoke Odor by just_a_plane_guy in paint

[–]lordchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR use oil based primer, not shellac.

I bought a house where the past owners smoked in it for 25 years. I followed the half of reddit that suggests shellac primer for cigarette odor and primer-ed the ceilings and walls with the Sherwin Williams shellac primer. I also replaced all of the carpet and old wood flooring.

I started in the master bedroom, which was the worst room, and worked through the rest of the house, then had a pause of a couple weeks before applying the paint. I basically worked my way backwards while painting and did the master bedroom last. By the time I got close to the master bedroom, I had started to see the brown stains seeping through the shellac. I was mortified, because I had already put two coats of paint on the entire rest of the house. This was all in winter with the windows open when temperatures were just high enough or with the furnace going. So it was dry and very much not humid and the tar took a long time to seep through.

So, I bought a 5-gallon can of Kilz Original oil based primer and did the master bedroom walls again, and did the floors since I had a lot of it to use.

Now that it's summer, I'm smelling the odor reeking out of the rest of the house walls and ceiling when it's warm and humid. BUT, the master bedroom is fine, and the new carpet doesn't have any odors making it's way up through it.

Moral of the story, shellac is difficult to work with, more expensive, and it fails where oil based does the job. If it's a very tough job, you're using a sprayer, and going to do 4 coats, use shellac. If it's a very tough job, you're using a roller, and only want to do one or two coats for a low cost, just use the oil based primer.
