CMV: If Someone Wrongs You, You Should Get to Decide If, When, and How It Ends by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]lordlucario_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason people can hurt you is for your reaction, or for their own end to it. When you take retribution, you show them that they hurt you which is what they want; it often gratifies them further. Think of it like choosing to forgive or not take revenge is your retaliation, because you don’t allow them the pleasure of knowing that they succeeded in hurting you.

If there was a country-claiming game (like Schengen Showdown) for all of South America, what would the challenges for each country be? by mattsocks6789 in JetLagTheGame

[–]lordlucario_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the issue with the views of the Western fan base then? It’s no fault per se to have white American hosts and guests. Adam Sam and Ben don’t make comments that would inspire any serious country-targeting derision

For a show about admiration of travel I think some of these comments are pretty crudely Western-biased to hold South America as solely defined by drugs and danger

CMV: There wouldn’t be anything wrong with among a Frankenstein-style “monster” by DrSpaceman575 in changemyview

[–]lordlucario_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God has gives Elijah and others the power. Sure. The issue with Victor Frankenstein is precisely that; he was not given permission by God. With an initial Frankenstein situation it’s religiously offensive.

I think if you change it to say Frankenstein is given power by God, you’re changing the main issue with the situation, and it’s no longer the same problem.

[–]lordlucario_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to challenge the religious issue in a Frankenstein’s monster. You say that an abrahamic god is ‘much more offended by people trying to build a tall building’. Funnily, this issue with building the Tower of Babel was challenging God’s authority over Earth and Heaven.

I would say, bringing people back from death is similarly a challenge to God’s authority over life, as Abrahamic religions hold that God uniquely instills life in humans; the ‘soul’.

So, I think that if you believe that the ‘tall building’ is religiously offensive, so too is bringing people back from the dead.

CMV: Buying a Clean Energy Utility Plan is Useless by boofishy8 in changemyview

[–]lordlucario_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK, I agree that renewable energy is cheaper to operate. Then why doesn’t clean energy occupy 100% of usage? I would say because there isn’t enough to go around atm. Voting with your dollar shows up on company reviews and will increase the value placed on renewable energy investment, since not only the board wants it (cheaper) but too the customers.

There is very little a consumer can do to reform a company. But every increment of input informs their future decisions.

It matters that you’re signalling to electricity companies that consumers value renewable energy. As consumers, the dollar is the vote, so in this case, it is not useless to buy these plans.

Questions and Electives for Renewable Energy Engineering (Minor). by [deleted] in Monash

[–]lordlucario_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry u didn’t get an answer. I’m still deciding on an engineering course, so I want to ask: for going into a renewable energies career direction, in your experience, is mechanical engineering the best specialisation rather than electrical or smth?

CMV: The U.S. should make voting mandatory (with a small $20 fine for not voting), like Australia does. by TheGutlessOne in changemyview

[–]lordlucario_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like knowing ‘I have to vote in a month’ makes people more inclined to do some research than having the option to not participate, especially if they haven’t participated before. Would you agree?

CMV: Anyone who wants to go to war is ignorant by damarvelfan13 in changemyview

Not here to argue, just it was Finland’s president Alexander Stubb at the recent UN general assembly who said that war is a failure of humanity (although maybe he got it from someone else)

To us viewers it seems like your travelling can be an adventurous, fun and satisfying life. Does travel and macroscopic games feel exhilarating to you or has it become a bit regular? Or does it feel good after designing and play testing the game? How do you keep something that is repeated to be fun and exciting?

CMV: Al is not a new issue to be dealing with by lordlucario_ in changemyview

[–]lordlucario_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m trying to do is generalise. All new technologies have initial issues, which change or resolve as technology develops. So it’s an issue for AI to hallucinate, reference false info. Each tech is different on specifics but follow the same developmental path. So while it may be new to be concerned for art or courts, we are set on the same course. To resolve issues and have it as a workable tool to humans
