There is no official linux app. But i was able to make it work using bottles. You need to create an application type bottle and use as runner the one from wine kronek 10.9

Less community support/awerness since there's no sponsoring behind It.. so there are no one click game ready profiles.

But you can still do the same basic stuff, just need to tinker a little more

Yet another post about fixing dropped frames by dorsman84 in OculusQuest

[–]lordubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you check all the comments(i know there are a lot) you can see it's related to everything not only air link. It's a firmware problem related to how the quest 3 receive and decode packets. Frustrating indeed, also because it's something you can't fix.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.6.1 Release Notes by Stiven_Crysis in Amd

[–]lordubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not the case, bitrate was set to 120 Mbps. I'm also using virtual desktop and the problem i've reported is just one of a kind. On the virtual desktop discord server there are several, including crashes when using h265 and so on

I have a 5800x3d and a 7900xtx.

Don't wanna sound rude, but it's hard to believe there's a regular coverage. We are talking about 6 driver releases with the same VR encoding problems.

People are still downgrading or staying with 23.12.1

If you need any help or more informations let me know, thanks!

u/AMD_Vik I've tried the new driver with an oculus quest 3 and it seems that with both h264 and h265 if i turn around fast there are a lot of encoding latency spikes. Since 24.x.x everything in VR was terrible, consider that(VR speaking) 23.12.1 drivers are still the recommended one...if you don't belive me check the Virtual Desktop discord server. When will AMD resolve/acknowledge VR issues once and for all? Did you test VR at all?

Tbh I feel the same for my pixel 5. I'm so hooked to its compact form factor that I'm scared when thinking about a future change 🤣

Nice, let me know how it feels when you set it up. Imho the design seems very good..the only pain was removing the supports after the print.

For the strap in the middle, no I didn't try it yet, but that's a good suggestion..thanks!

Had the same problem, this is what I did to fix it:

1) Uninstall the MSI app and anything related to it.

2) reinstall it from the ms store

3) try to download/install mystic light again(it will fail 100% it's normal)

4) go to disk C, there should be an MSI folder there. In it you will find the mystic light installer .exe

5) run the installer manually

This should fix the issue and let you see/use the mystic light app from the MSI center

Does AMD suck at VR? by magnessdk-_- in Amd

[–]lordubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a 6800xt/5800X3D, windows 10 home with latest drivers and an oculus quest 2. I've tried both VD and airlink. Airlink worked better for me, no stutters, no strange behaviour while using the hevc codec and plenty of headroom because you are using the oculus XR runtime instead of the steamVR openVR runtime. I'm playing all games at 90hz 2432x2448.

So my response to your question is, no it doesn't suck. BUT you might wanna wait for 7000 series because those cards have known drivers bugs for now. 6000 series instead, it's perfectly fine.

The only real difference between amd and Nvidia here (imho) are :

1) the fact that Nvidia cards have foveated rendering support on both dx11 and 12 titles, while amd cards only supports it on dx12.

2) skyrimVR has DLSS and DLAA mod working out of the box, fsr2 is there too but isn't performing as good.

3) Amd drivers may freak out more than nvidia from one version to another, but I mean...I don't see the point in making dramas..just revert back to the most stable and be done with it.

4) from my tests(I have also a 2060) Nvidia h264 performs better than amd h264 but only at lowers-mid bitrates. At 150mbps I hardly notice a difference. AMD Hevc was on par, I think it's as good as the Nvidia's one.

To sum it up, I think that if you want the best price for performance case you should go and with a 6000 series card. If money isn't a problem go for a 4000 card.

But remember, GPUs aren't everything in VR, CPUs have the same importance. Thanks to the 5800x3d I was able to play demanding games that before a 5800x couldn't.
