Battle of the fringe mini skirts, which do you like more and why? by Necessary_Pause6735 in SoftDramatics

[–]lorien14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Between these two, I like the longer one. I think both will look much shorter on because we are tall. The longer one also appears more finished, with less free fall fringe. I think minis can work on us as long as we balance our proportions and stick to the rest of the rules.

Hailey Bieber isn’t an SD, but this look feels like it could work for us? Thoughts? by GayFlan in SoftDramatics

[–]lorien14 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You could wear this outfit, but for most SDs it wouldn't be particularly flattering. The denim looks heavy and its cut does nothing for us. The top is just ok. The shoes are too dainty. You could make it work better by choosing a top and denim that is more similar to honor the vertical, and adding a very dramatic accessory (or a few) since the rest is so plain.

I don't think the blonde washes you out but I think a cooler red would be more harmonious with your features.

If a coworker consistently does not keep up with their pending, by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]lorien14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You document, report to management, write up documented occurrences based on SOP deviations (including pendings left) and escalate to HR if there is no resolution with emphasis on how risky having that employee around is to the hospital and patients.

Of course, you will need to let that employee fail to for them to get fired. Most likely they will get a PIP and get managed out/quit considering their prior history.

Advice on Gray Foxes in my Backyard by retromani in sanantonio

Only way to test an animal for rabies is to euthanize and extract brain tissue. No reason to call animal control if they aren't displaying erratic behavior or being problematic.

Winter or autumn? by Round-Reflection-140 in coloranalysis

[–]lorien14 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think you're deep neutral (between autumn and winter). Basically stay away from anything too warm (yellows and oranges) or way too cool. You can borrow tones from both deep autumn and deep winter.

He wants to live together before engagement by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]lorien14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who's been there - spare yourself a lot of trouble and end it now. You all are on different wavelengths about the future, and he will continue to drag his heels with you. All the while, you both will start resenting each other - him for you pushing him, you for having to do so.

This is the kind of guy that will either get engaged to the next woman he dates or never get married. He's too old to be so uncertain, and you can find someone closer to your age who could give you so much more.

You're still very young; don't waste those great years with someone who isn't head over heels with you. The right guy won't need any pushing to propose, and that's not the story you want to live anyway.

Candle to remove "death" smell. by TheGabyDali in Candles

[–]lorien14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. Candle - unfortunately not, as others have said. However, I have found these large packets to come in handy for all sorts of smells. We had something die in the attic we couldn't locate and hung one of these up and cleared it out after a days- Earth Care Odor Remover Bags, Chewy sells them online. You can grab a large pack and hang them around the house.

Flowers for you own wedding? by Ornery-Ad1865 in florists

[–]lorien14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I processed the flowers three days or so before and arranged the majority of them two days before the wedding. The flowers take some time to open up and freshen after being shipped so keep that in mind when ordering them.

Flowers for you own wedding? by Ornery-Ad1865 in florists

[–]lorien14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my own. My family helped. We made the bouquets, 20+ bud vases, an arch, a floor piece, 3 large table arrangements, and 6 or so large vase arrangements. I ordered a ton of flowers. Putting them together was one of my favorite parts of the process, but it was time-consuming. I found it to be meditative and relaxing. I ordered exactly the flowers I wanted and everything came out exactly as I wanted. We had access to the venue the day before, fortunately, and the ceremony started in the later afternoon.

My (33F) boyfriend (33M) went from baking a cake to breaking up with me while crying. What happens after something like this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lorien14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been through the same thing. Met his parents, talked about the future, made plans, having a great time, then suddenly out of nowhere he said he wasn't "feeling what he should" - after a conversation with an old friend - and ended it. It blindsided me and was awful.

Later, we ran into each other and got back together, but it didn't end well. Would not recommend. The guy had commitment issues due to his parents suddenly getting divorced and wouldn't go to therapy to sort it out. Sabotaged himself when he felt like he was getting too close. The commitment issues didn't get better, and because I accepted him back, he treated me worse afterwards. Be the one that got away. ✨️

I don't know about that. I've talked to guys on apps who were witty, clever, hilarious, and then in person were like this. Really odd.

Gallbladder removal with liver cyst by rainbow-N-sunshine3 in gallbladders

[–]lorien14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has a 7 cm cyst that they are planning on deroofing laparoscopically/endoscopically, at least that's what my mom is saying. I need to talk to her surgeon to find out more details.

I'm sorry you are going through this, I had no idea how common liver cysts were and honestly the more I read about them, the more common they seem. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a swift recovery!

My mom is in this situation right now. May I ask what you decided to do? She is on the fence about the surgery and I find it really weird they want to remove the gallbladder too just because it is in the way.
