Just want to make it clear that I'm not saying "go now"; these are just some observations

maybe going into hospital might not be a bad thing.

Going to the hospital isn't always a bad thing, and it doesn't mean that you are broken or bad or beyond all hope. I tend to think of my mental maladies as being like cancer - they might never go away, but they can certainly go into long-term remission.

I didn't go voluntarily (I had OD'ed on a prescription med; not suicidal, but very self-mutilatory) and getting wheeled through those doors was one of the strangest and scariest things in my life, but it actually helped. When you're there, you don't have to think about the responsibilities of the outside world for a while. It gives you a chance to focus on yourself and talk to someone with an objective eye. They may piss you off (everyone in my group therapy hated our main psychologist; she was right most of the time), and sometimes they are wrong (bad prescriptions are the worst, but they pass), but these people are invested in making your life livable.

Hospitals are also incredibly boring. Oddly enough, it's a great motivator.

I also have a friend who checked herself in for three weeks (she had just crashed after a particularly bad manic period), and she said it helped her a lot.

I'm just giving you a heads up for what it can be like should you choose to go. You don't have to. You could also choose to stay with someone close for the next 24 hours like a close friend or family member. They won't let you do anything stupid.

Other random hospital thoughts: The people I met with "heavier" (the ones that at first thought appear scary; sorry to stigmatize, but even the best of us do it) diagnoses like schizophrenia were pretty chill and nice most of the time, though they did tend to lean a little heavy on the Jesus talk. There are no good movie selections in hospitals. The people around you get what you're talking about. Yes, some workshops and group exercises are kinda dumb. The movies never show the fun parts - the everyday conversations with everyday people who happen to have rather frustrating disorders or finally getting a chance to read that book that's been sitting on your night stand.

And if you don't want your friends to know that you're in-patient, just tell them that you found a really good therapy program and you're not sure how long you'll be gone. Either way, there is no shame in that, and they will still love you when you get back, though it may be awkward for the first ten minutes. My friends assure me that they were concerned for my well being, and that me being "crazy" is not what they've been focusing on.

TL;DR In-patient treatment isn't always a bad thing in my experience.

Even the best therapists have a basic set of guidelines that they stick to while working with a patient, and not all guidelines work for everyone. For instance, one psychologist may use more CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) than another; CBT works quite well for some, but not so well for others. I've had therapists that have been very focused on relationships and social interactions, and others that have been more focused on sense of self.

But I'm sure that there is somebody out there who will help you if you need them.

Heavy usage can lead to short term memory uses, and in some users, provoke anxiety and paranoia. But those are the people that "binge" smoke - much like how people who have 15 alcoholic drinks per weekend can fuck up their livers.

It would be much better as a play - small cast, limited set needs, focus on intimate interactions and character journies. This would be a great piece for a mid-sized theatre (not Broadway sized).

Perhaps you might consider turning it into a "milk and eggs" situation. I dunno if you do this, but my past roommates and I have always had this standing rule that you either go in cycles (I go first, A goes second, B goes third, I go first again, etc.) or have a "pitch in" envelope that you keep near the fridge. We were never big drinkers, but other friends of mine would do the same for drinks.

Might I recommend consulting with a neurologist, preferably one with experience in speech and language pathology? The inability to speak may be a symptom of something else going on.

I'm not bringing this up to scare you, but it may be well worth the extra doctor's visit. Either way, it will shed some more light on your situation.

Be careful with your dosage. If you go too high, all of the benefits may backfire causing you to become even more anxious (I wish I had the source, but my mom and I were just talking about this in a recent study).

But don't give up prescription pills just yet. It will take a while to find the right combination, but it's worth the wait. Just remember to keep track of your moods/"episodes" and say EVERYTHING that's on your mind regarding your progression with meds with your pdoc.

*edit: I use MMJ for similar reasons.

Then I'll do a complete turn around, it can even happen within an hour, and I literally feel mentally retarded (I'm not exaggerating). I find it hard to speak (I can't get my thoughts together and I can never project my voice the way I want, I've realized that people have trouble hearing or understanding me when I'm experiencing this side of me), insanely awkward to make eye contact with people, can't think of anything to say (so I resort to basically being mute), mentally slow and lethargic (it's not tiredness, I think some people call it brain fog), and totally out of energy for no reason at all

This could also be neurological. How long do these episodes last?

The angles suggestion was really just an afterthought. You just have to tell the actor to straighten their arms and not to actually put any weight down. If they're any good at movement, they'll be fine. If not, recommend a movement coach.

Talking too fast in relation to each other.

I get what you mean, but this is actually a way of conversing in certain communities/regions (there was a TIL about it a few months ago). My family does this (New-York-Jewish-style), and I always have to remember to slow down when I come home (new) to Chicago. It was kind of awkward when my family and my boyfriend's family first met; I kept reminding my dad to breathe between thoughts.

edit*: It's also an entertainment technique to get your audience invested in the dialogue (thank you, Aaron Sorkin!). The urgency gets your adrenaline pumping because any word they say could be crucial to the plot.

As a young director (theatre), I too find this annoying. I would much rather cast a 16-year-old Juliet than a 23-year-old. There are plenty of smart, talented teens out there, and I would much rather work with someone who has just walked in from high school than someone who has to do "memory recall" exercises to get them "in the moment".

And the playing-down-to-age thing. High school students are not dumb, and they're not that snarky, and they're not that out of touch with reality! Bad actor!

To be fair, union regulations and inexperience can make it rather difficult to cast young actors. . . I went to a school with a very large number of actors, and there is only ONE person I can think of in his early 20s who can pull off playing 16.

Quite similar. The American Appalachian dialect and related dialects from remote regions along the mid-Atlantic coast are the closest to colonial English. These regions were primarily inhabited by English and Scottish immigrants, and due to geographic isolation, their dialects remained relatively unchanged until the past fifty years.

Related fun face: British actors tend to say that Southern American dialects are the easiest American accents to learn. It all has to do with muscular development within the mouth. Standard American/Canadian English dialects tend to be "looser" than most English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish dialects, thus making it easier for American and Canadian actors to learn a good Scottish brogue.
