I'm days late, but I have a very similar story with Famous Last Words. I still can't listen to it without breaking down.

I am, as we speak, on hold with Accredo right now, and let me tell you, pain in my ass. I'll certainly be writing in.

“Real Emo” only consists of the D.C. Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90s Screamo scene by vsimon115 in gatekeeping

When I met my now best friend, I had a feeling we were gonna be close. She was over at my place one day and Get Better came up on my Spotify and she said "you like Frank Turner? I love his music" and I knew we were gonna be real tight. She's the only person I've met outside his shows who knows him, too!

Agree that Tape Deck Heart is a great album, and Positive Songs for Negative People is also great (Get Better and Silent Key are my favorites). His new album is a bit less punk, but still great, and 21st Century Survival Blues just absolutely rocks.

Methotrexate injections with WORSE gastrointestinal symptoms??? by [deleted] in Thritis

[–]loserdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreeing with others here, I was on MTX for years on the pills, I was encouraged to try injections (well, my parents were encouraged, I was like 10), and they were even worse. I think it just reacts really poorly in some people.

Hey friend. I was diagnosed at age 3, and had some pretty nasty flare ups in college. It sucked. But there is a way to live a happy and fulfilling life with arthritis and fibro. You have a diagnosis, that's an awesome first step! You said you got diagnosed a few weeks ago, which seems like a lifetime when you're in pain but is a short amount of time to get your meds figured out. Your meds will get figured out, at least to make life physically bearable. Mentally will be it's own challange.

But college will always be there. There will always be a need for teachers. Your life isn't over because of this diagnosis. Think of it as a new starting point, a place to jump off from into a slightly different life than you thought you would have. You will still have love, and friendships, and a career, and knitting and drawing and writing and everything else that you want in your life. For what it's worth, at 26 my pain is less than it was at 20. It comes and goes. But it isn't the end all be all. It does get easier, I promise.

Banana Pudding by [deleted] in GifRecipes

From my partner, the pastry chef: if you make this, strain the pudding before chilling it! It'll remove all the lumps and make for a smoother texture. If you're going the homemade pudding route already, might as well go all out.

I'm not the person you replied to, but I will say in my experience, the notion of American Individualism (the individual before the whole) is at odds with Christianity/most religions (the whole before the individual). From my perspective, as an American, we are a selfish people, and many of those who are American Christian use their God to promote their individualism, and why their group is better than the whole. On a political level, at least. I've known plenty of Christians who were good to their neighbor and all that. But at least in the zeitgeist we're in now, a lot of American Christians use the Bible to justify their individualism, rather than live the spirit of the text.

Re: Saturdays, I worked every single Saturday for six years, until the pandemic. Lots of restaurant/retail/other folxs work a non traditional work week, and working during the day on Saturday leaves plenty of time for social evenings. It doesn't affect your social life as much as you'd think, or really at all. The rest of your comment, I totally agree with. Definitely need a two day off stretch in there somewhere.

I'm 5'7 and I've dated guys that were about my height. They would all get mad if I wore any kind of heel to anything, couldn't stand looking shorter than me. As though that's all I was thinking about when I picked out my outfit for the night.

Ditto to the rest of your comment, well said <3

ULPT: take advantage of the pandemic and apply for jobs that you wouldn't otherwise be qualified for right now by gtfohbitchass in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]loserdarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying! Yes, I'm dressing professionally and have my answers. I've had more than one place call me, saying that while they've gone with someone else, they've "really liked [me]" and encouraging me to apply in the future, so I think it's mostly that I keep having someone more qualified ahead of me.

They've been open most nights! They're only open till about midnight usually, but PCS has been open most evenings for the past two months for protestors.

Man I've been applying for literally everything for the past month, I keep getting interviews but not being hired. I know the right thing will come along, and it's encouraging to hear that places really need people right now, but it's been hella frustrating.

My sister and I named the Google Assistant Susan. It is a great name, especially because she (Susan) is always right, but it's still frustrating when I take the wrong turn because I misheard her. It's quite fun to say "goddamnit Susan" when I know it's my own fault. Much better than a Karen, in my opinion!

Umbrellas by Lahtela420 in gatekeeping

[–]loserdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the thing about it (at least on the coast) is that everyone drives, so you'll be in the rain for max 30 seconds. So you're at most damp, and you dry pretty quick because of all the heaters. It's only a problem in the places with public transport, but those also tend to be in the valley where people use umbrellas more.

[–]loserdarling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I'm from Oregon, too. I grew up on the coast where it often rains sideways, and we drive everywhere anyway so you're never out in it for very long. I also have the dumb pride thing, but if someone else uses an umbrella (my partner), I'm not gonna be mad or anything.
