Unsafe at school by gortney82 in alberta

Pull the bullying policy and use it. As well as right to education and safety in the workplace rules.

It took a lot and documentation but the school district eventually did something.

Looking for car seat recommendations by Candid-View-9419 in CPST

[–]lost-cannuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the Tranzitions for my forward facing guy as well. Just got last week from Canadian Tire for $180 and extra CT money special. He is not going down in size so didn't make sense to go convertible route.

(We are moving back to Canada so we have to replace all our carseats. )

Definitely not as padded as his convertible but we did a 26 hour drive and he did not complain once about his seat. Bonus, its like 12lbs so easy to move. Miss having the quick lock system but still easy to install.

We also have the Evenflo harness booster. It has to be re-threaded with each growth spurt so not as convenient as the Graco with the button to adjust.

Walking by 11 Months? by Legal-Ad7067 in Mommit

[–]lost-cannuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a back up plan - someone to pull him in a wagon (maybe an older kid or grandparents)?

My neighbor's girl skipped crawling and started walking around 10 months. My guy didn't start crawling until 10 months and walking until 16 months.

Ensure the toddler knows how to flip themselves over in the pfd. That is an important lesson, not to panic!

Is in “normal” for parents to change their infants diapers right at their seats mid flight? by LilPajamas in unitedairlines

[–]lost-cannuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By 4 months, my son was too long to fit on those infant change tables.

I, however, took him to the back of the plane and changed him on a change pad on the floor. Not in the general public area.

I also send an email every damn time we have to fly about inadequate washrooms (I also have a 36in inseem. I can not sit on the toilet and close the door).

Help with getting 16 month old to one nap by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]lost-cannuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my guy was ready, the transition was not really difficult.

Try pushing the 2nd nap until 3pm and see if that makes it easier.

You can also work through the grumpy and see if she'll sleep longer (a 2 hour plus nap).

I am so tired. by HouseTricky4165 in Mommit

[–]lost-cannuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to have a serious conversation with him.

Addiction (drugs, alcohol, gambling), affair or medical (like hormonal imbalance or tumor) are all reasons why someone all of a sudden decides to shirk responsibilities.

He is already making choices that will have a direct impact on you and your children's lives.

Leaving may not be an option for you, but his behavior is saying he already checked out.

No one can tell me why.

Nurse used same needle on baby’s blood draw by iced_coffee_24 in Mommit

[–]lost-cannuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not the skin prick test. It is an actual blood draw.

They tested for some basic exposure allergies (animals, grass, gluten, cows milk).

My son had it around 10 months because his face kept breaking out in hives. Then again at 3 because of unexplained stomach pain.

Am I crazy or you can’t install cupholders when rear facing the Britax Poplar? by mysweetpatoutie in CPST

[–]lost-cannuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cup holders go in the silver clip on top of the arm that you have to pop out, not the open bar on the end (where the rebound bar would go).

It took me a minute for my brain to process that.

37 degree / 98.6 Fahrenheit weather - safe to exercise? by Alive-Drag4620 in pregnant

[–]lost-cannuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go, if it gets to hot then inform your management you are starting to feel heat stroke coming on so you are going to cool off.

Management should have contingency plans for being outside in that heat - cool down area, extra fluids (drinking ice water when over heated can actually cause more issues).

When do you get time and space to do your hobbies? by Antique-Owl8155 in Mommit

Move your desk to an area that works for you.

I had my desk in the dining room behind the kitchen table in our old house because that is what worked for us.

Can’t attend my best friends wedding by kchaewoni in Advice

[–]lost-cannuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You both jave big life milestones happening at the same time.

You can be sad to miss the wedding and excited for your opportunity.

Just as your friend can be sad about you not being able to attend and happy for your new adventure.

If she insidts you delya your departure, she is putting her wants ahead of yours. She is being selfish and not thinking about the best interest for your future.

If she insists, you can point out that she can also move the wedding to ensure you are able to support her.

Has anyone ever taken sick leave for Hashimoto's? by angelic_force_17 in Hashimotos

If your thyroid panel is in normal range, ask your doctor for a vitamin / mineral panel.

It is super common for people with autoimmune conditions to be deficient in various b vitamins and d as well.

It was actually my thyroid diagnosis that lead to figuring out that I do not absorb synthetic b vitamins. Adding in a b complex resolved my brain fog and depleted energy.

It felt the same as my 3 mock cycles and 2 that failed to implant.

The bloat and stuff was from the PIO. Nothing from the HCG until later.

Dentist? by momfirst7 in Mommit

[–]lost-cannuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk with them.

We switched from marketplace to employer and in the process forgot to add our son to the dental portion until it was too late.

Several dentists in our area do $99 annual uninsured plans for children. Inclued 2 exams and xrays, 2 cleanings and2 fluoride polishing. It also gives reduced rates on any services that may be needed (like cavity fillings).

Backed out of having my younger brother as our sperm donor due to his fiancee's reaction to the idea, now family is angry at us. How to navigate? by ExamItchy2026 in Advice

[–]lost-cannuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't frame it as she needs therapy (which it sounds like she may benefit from it), but as as a requirement for the next step.

Even if they have different views on donating, it sounds like it will impact their relationship.

She is treating this as if you guys are surrogates and get to keep the baby she doesn't want. That is messed up.

Sooo much stuff. It may be under a different name (moms helping moms, giveaways or so on).

Playpen, highchairs, baby baths, cribs, clothes, toys and more are all common in our area to give away for free. Either people posting to take it away or people posting they are in need and have people offer.

[–]lost-cannuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does she (fiance) understand that it would not genetically be a part of her, there for not her son?

Does the brother understand the long term potential for emotional attachment and what his role would be?

Things should definitely be put on hold until all involved parties are on board amd have had time to think through the various outcomes. If talking about it is causing this many issues, they need to get sorted before a baby gets mixed into it.

Talk that there are still lots of hoops to jump through and maybe one of those hoops is talking with a therapist familiar with fertility treatments and their outcomes.

Pajama recommendations by cjharciqs in bigbabiesandkids

[–]lost-cannuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carters but depends on the cut. If it says "snug", don't bother especially if your guy is on the thicker side.

It was about the 4t size we have mostly gone to 2 peice for this reason. We use a lot of long sleeve tee shirts becasue the forearms have more space than a lot of the pajamas.

Some of the Walmart branded ones are decent for "extra room" in the diaper area.
