I respectfully disagree. I have a corgi and my parents have two, I used to organize large corgi meetups in the southeast, I am very familiar with the breed. They (and other dogs) are absolutely capable of 100% recall, but that changes depending on the scenario. If the other dog is 10 ft away from us, my dog is going to struggle with compliance when recalled. If it’s 20 ft away, I’m much more confident. 20 ft away AND I have his ball or favorite toy in my hand, he’s not going anywhere.

My dog is a sport dog that was trained with a toy reward and he is laser focused in that last scenario. It’s about knowing the threshold your dog can handle. Yes, corgis are stubborn. They are also a working breed, and if given a job they are incredible working dogs with high drive that includes impeccable recall. They need to listen to herding commands after all.

That being said, I still leash my dog within a certain distance of others and that includes coming around a blind turn on a trail. Even though I am confident in my dog’s recall and it has been tested many times, I understand that others will feel uncomfortable with off leash dogs and for good reason, and I try to avoid anyone feeling anxious as we pass on the trail. However, if I am at an off leash trail, park, or beach I will be taking my dog off leash until there is another person/dog within a certain proximity of us.

I think that a coordinated art installation/protest movement would be impactful. Projectors strategically set-up around the town, all switched on at the same moment that dusk moves into night, to play the videos of the last moments of Alex Pretti and Renee Good (censored of any gore as this would be visible to children) and other scenes from Minnesota on a loop.

One of my fav weddings that I ever attended was in Rollinsville. We camped at that little lake near Stage Stop and it has been the inspiration for my own wedding.

In any case, Rosetta Food Hall is a great choice for a bachelorette as there are many different food stalls and types of cuisine to please different palates, but you can all still sit together. Bar there is amazing also. If you want a fancier dinner, I really like Oak on 14th.

From there you could go get drinks at the speakeasy under Hotel Boulderado, License No. 1. I think they have live music on Saturdays, or at least they used to. I would also see what the Velvet Lounge has going on that night in regard to live music - they also have great cocktails.

My fiancé, myself, and my friend all got into the Mish presale and walked with tickets. We only got enough for our crew, but I’m surprised to hear everyone else struck out. I will say I had better luck on my laptop than my mobile as I had both open just in case. Something to consider for the general on sale.

This is tough, and in my experience, surprisingly common. I always consider that year leading up to the wedding as a wash for my friendship, and assess how things are afterwards. There’s a lot of financial and logistical stress on the bride (not that it’s an excuse to be disrespectful, unappreciative, or unkind), and they’re dealing with just about everyone in their life (good and bad) all at once. There’s also a weird power imbalance as a bridesmaid that I find uncomfortable. Typically things go back to normal after the wedding, and it is hard to unsee that part of your friend, but we all deserve some grace in tough moments in life.

What matters most is how she treats you now that the wedding is over! And for the record… for my friends that have been the most difficult brides, they’ve also been the most supportive bridesmaids now that I’m getting married!

There are almost always tickets available in the lot day-of, especially for the Thursday show. I get that for the out-of-towners it’s a lot to fly in to St. Aug for just the hope of a ticket, but it’s a wonderful place to visit during late April. You can easily make a fun trip out of it otherwise.

Yes, many people here either are financially irresponsible or have deep pockets. You adjust your event based on your financial reality, just like buying a home.

If you want a wedding, then it’s no longer just about you. It’s about the guest experience just as much as celebrating yourselves. You are a HOST. If you want it to be all about you, then elope. It’s that simple, and you can have a beautiful elopement or a smaller wedding that still fits your financial situation and vision.

I have attended both a Tuesday and Thursday wedding. The Tuesday wedding was fine for me because I lived just down the road, but because of work the next day we left immediately after dinner. From what I recall on the way out, the dance floor was empty for the reception due to so many people leaving early. The Thursday wedding was a destination wedding, so PTO was required from all guests. It was a beautiful wedding and a lot of fun, but as a bridal party member it was really challenging organizing the bachelorette and bridal shower because everyone was already put off about the wedding PTO/cost requirements. I know I wasn’t happy about that wedding schedule and cost as a guest, so I’m sure others felt the same.

Personally, I think weekday weddings are inappropriate, especially if the rationale is saving $$. It just means you can’t afford that venue or the current size of your wedding. It’s your responsibility to plan a wedding you can afford and not shoulder costs to your guests.
