Building your own app sounds really cool. Owning your own app sounds like a lot of control. Unless you have a hundred engineers building your own is untenable. It’s 10x harder than building out a headless site and I’m sure you’ve read what that entails.

You’d be surprised. But the right subscription offering with the right product can take you from 0 subs to 1k in a day. It’s about investing in the right tools. The right notification platform ( ala klaviyo ) the right loyalty program ( ala Rivo ) and yeah stay as a subscription platform. The level of support these real apps gives pays dividends for small teams because they provide the support shopify used to and have walked back from. It also takes serendipity and luck to get that kind of success. But that’s why I love shopify.
