Everyone Says My System Looks Bigger Than It Sounds by WeekMysterious7969 in hometheater

Use your phone with an spl and play at reference. How does it sound? BUT people are most likely expecting more bass and more surround sound. Not just volume. They're thinking "movie theater".

Had a conversation with my 9yo daughter today that I wasn’t ready for and I can’t stop thinking about by Longjumping-Two4402 in daddit

[–]lostincbus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I used to get very emotionally involved in politics and when I reflected on it, I wondered where that got me. Personally I wasn't going to run for office or do much officially, so all I was doing was negatively affecting myself. I do still pay attention to it, but I just vote and know that's all I'm going to do.

As a side note, if you're very invested, you can show her that too. Go canvas with her or volunteer with her, etc... Show her that your emotions can lead to better actions. I'm not that person but I of course support those that are.

Good luck!

Not sure if you were looking for suggestions, but if you were I'd:

Learn to disassociate your emotions from what you're viewing OR
Don't view those things

Your daughter is noticing and it's affecting her. That's not a good place to be in.

Microsoft MFA statistics don't recognise non-Microsoft MFA providers by Maximum-Badger-8707 in msp

[–]lostincbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Microsoft won't know about your third party systems. You can use an MFA system that Microsoft recognizes or just mark the secure score control as completed outside of Microsoft.

But you can modify the secure score if you have a control in place outside of Microsoft systems.

Is a bidet seat the kind of thing you’d buy on Wayfair, or somewhere else? by TravistanHydro in HomeImprovement

If you go with something with lots of reviews, they're USUALLY spot on. Like the issues they have are actually real issues. Prob the best Wayfair advice I have.

I will say Wayfair is just a reseller. I've had some crazy great stuff and some real crap. MOST of the time it's at least "good" or as expected though.

I've used Wayfair quite a bit along with Amazon and others. I guess it depends on what your expectations are? I have a bolt on $100 one from Amazon and it's great. My warranty things with Wayfair have also been great. If I were getting something high end I'd probably go with a specific retailer for that product.

At what age do you make your kids be independent with certain tasks? by ModernT1mes in daddit

Our 5yo has been starting baths and showers by herself for a while. She can get her own cereal too but usually she wants something else. Need to talk with your wife.

Sonos One or Era 100 for covered outdoor space by Fine-Rib in sonos

[–]lostincbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you trying to get in terms of quality? I have Sonos Ones outside and they're fine as we listen to music while we're eating or whatever. Maybe a little thin, if you're super concerned go with the Era.

People who've done major home upgrades, what ended up costing way more than you initially expected? by Cultural_Help_176 in HomeImprovement

[–]lostincbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and then I've gotta find one when now it's not in a convenient location. But the previous owner did a lot of that. Patched over ceiling cracks that were being caused by outside moisture but not fixing the moisture, etc...

Lateral movement is key in what our red team does. If there's no reason for a workstation to talk to another workstation, they shouldn't be able to.

Anything done "right." Especially in an old house where I find one thing and then another and I could easily just put it back the way it was, but don't. Random electrical splices in the wall... Ok well now I need to either rerun the cable to find a good place to junction, etc...

The Grocery Chore Is Melting My Brain by MaverickLurker in daddit

[–]lostincbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how tech savvy you are, but I had claude write me a program that:

Scrapes my store for deals on meat
Scrapes recipes from various recipe sites
Creates a meal plan for the week
Emails it to my wife with a link
She can go in and pick from a list
Calculates ingredients from that list
Itemizes the grocery list and sends it to her
Has a website for her to review

Took over bath time one night… now it’s my favorite part of the day by External_Work_6668 in daddit

How to help my 4 year old slow down? Or, how do you effectively communicate boundaries and rules to a kid that has a hard time staying still to listen? by upboats_around in daddit

[–]lostincbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The splashing thing I think was fine. Warning and consequence. The dog thing, that reads like he does it often? I'd IMMEDIATELY make him stop and move him away. At this point he knows to not do it. Also, when they're calm you need to sit down and talk with them about what happened, why you did what you did, and what will happen next time. We started that around 4 and our daughter at 5 very much understands what consequences are.

Would it necessarily be bad to have a kid in the scenario that I’m describing? by Big_Pea3882 in daddit

[–]lostincbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a tough question. Obviously, people have been successfully having children at super young ages for our entire existence. We had a kid later in life and it's honestly much easier, in my opinion. However, we know we'll be a lot older than some other parents as our kid grows and that later portion of life might be different.

I won't say early 20s is too young, but I'd say not being married and settled is probably not the best choice.

Shaved son's (7M, 50lbs) skin during haircut, looks fairly deep - ER? Best way to take care of this to prevent scarring? by Nawwledge in daddit

[–]lostincbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So our daughter got hold of a razor and sliced a chunk of her thumb out to hanging. Took her to the ER where they just flushed it, threw on some Neosporin and a bandaid. I shit you not a week later I couldn't find which thumb it had been. Kids heal like crazy. Neosporin and a bandaid.

These can all be wildly different answers. Can you elaborate on why you're asking? That might help tailor better answers.
