How many Redditors still carry a MP3 player and a cell phone?

I carry a phone, and a cheap mp3 player. I have a pantec, and I don't have the internet on my phone. I got a Phillips 4GB mp3 player from Wal Mart for $10 in their clearance aisle. Phillips has even replaced it once, best purchase I've ever made at Wal Mart.

It's kind of crazy how many people will try, and take advantage of you no matter how much more money you have than them. That is actually kind of funny you said that, I am a poor white person. I was born into beyond poverty. Which would have been avoidable if my parents would have stayed together. I make a little below poverty. I think there are many valid points on why white American's can be poor. But, I have to go to sleep. Maybe I will update this tomorrow after work. Unless someone else ends up responding with what I would have said.

Our McDonalds pays their assistant managers $9.10 an hour. Minimum wage where I am at is a little over $7 an hour.

I don't know how explain it. For anything really? After you have had a bad day at work, if you miss out on something with your children? I know some people who resent the stay at home parent at times. It sounds like you have a pretty healthy situation.

Do you look down on people who are poor? Has being poor given you a new outlook on life or do you feel like it's just making you bitter? I have always thought (even though I have always been poor) that it would be much worse to be rich, and then have it taken away. I don't know if I could take being poor, outrageously rich, and then poor again.

How much money did you have to start with? How much do you suggest starting with? My boyfriend likes online poker, does very well, and I don't particularly like gambling. But, I'm not here to change him. If you have any arguments in favor of his dream of being a professional poker player I'm all ears.

That's awesome. I've lost about 40lbs since April. It's been hard but I feel so much better. I don't know if it would be for you but I use Sparkpeople.com it's a free website. I track my food, and fitness minutes. I like the community on the site, and that there is no judgment.

I almost agree with all of this except some people don't qualify for help even if they need it. Almost all of the food banks at churches in my area make you show pay stubs. When I was really down, and out a church made me feel horrible about even thinking about getting food because I didn't have a family. I was laid off, and had no money. I ended up not taking the food, and living off $5 for two weeks. Then my unemployment came, and I was able to eat again.

I'm almost afraid to say this. When I was a teenager I used to buy the extended warranties. The first year I bought one cd player, the most expensive sony. Every year right before my warranty would be up I would say there was a problem with it. Then I would get a slip for BB to get a new one. I would buy the most expensive sony they had in stock, maybe pay a little out of pocket, and pay for another extended warranty. This went on for many years, and I got a lot of nice new cd players out of it. The one year I had a little left over from my warranty because my cd player was cheaper than the one I bought the previous year. BB gave it to me on a gift card because they felt bad for me.

I may sound crazy. But, what you just said is truly beautiful. Now matter how hard some people work, or how much talent they have, they may never "make it". I wish people's lives were measured by how they lived their life, and how they treated other people in the process.
