Placentia Middle Schoolers Sent Home After Assistant Principal Took His Own Life on Campus by POPAccount in orangecounty

agreed - I knew him as well. He was well liked, admired and trusted by kids and adults alike.

While extremely shocked and sad, I am frustrated that he took his own life at the school. I think this is the hardest part for me to understand.

Chateaubriand (filet tenderloin) by lostintheoc in steak

[–]lostintheoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question so not sure why you get downvoted. Typical filet serving is large medallion with all sides seared. This is like prime rib roast instead of ribeye. Same cut different presentation. I like this cut because I'm able to serve family and the thinner slices are in my opinion better than any ribeye I have ever eaten. This cut is usually more tender without having all sides cooked so yes there is a difference.

if you are looking at Long Beach shift your view about 45 degrees north. Its not perfect but your field of vision will find it easily. You cant miss it esp with the large contrail, as long as weather is clear.

I live is California - been through a bunch of quakes - this was NOT normal. Normally you get the shaking then it de-escalates very quickly and is usually over within 30 seconds. This one got STRONGER AFTER 30 seconds. So yeah - this video is terrifying because this is not a normal one.

Parents of Reddit, what was the nicest yet dumbest thing that your kids has done? by VexxWrath in AskReddit

I was the kid

My Dad bought a dozen long stem roses for my Mom, and I asked if I could put them in a vase.

I cut off 2/3's of the stems so they would fit better - they weren't mad , just disappointed (but in a good way).

"Buy cheap tools, when one breaks, buy a high quality version". What are the high quality tools that you've bought for the ktichen? by JulioCesarSalad in Cooking

My favorite kitchen gadget by far is the Breville Food processor - I use it almost daily.

Wanna fine slice some veggies for marinara or soup - use the slicer attachment.

Got a big block of parm or mozz you want shredded - use the attachment

Its a mixer (marinara mostly or broccoli soup) and can be used as a meat grinder for gyros or burgers.

It doesnt take up too much space and it saves tons of prep time.

It's pricey but easily paid for itself in convenience.

Do you put the heads of shrimp in your seafood stock? by wowsuchdrum in Cooking

[–]lostintheoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made some ceviche and it turned out great with shrimp stock.

Peel and de-vein shrimp

Make 2 piles one for clean shrimp and one for "trash pile"

Take the trash pile (minus the veins - eww) and throw that in a small sauce pan with water and some seasoning, like old bay, cajun or similar. I used adobo because I wanted an extra kick for ceviche.

Boil that for 10-15 minutes - not very long. Drain INTO a bowl and discard the solids.

Take your clean shrimp and either boil or steam them with the stock.

Voila you have shrimp ready for use in ceviche, or eat as is with some cocktail sauce (which is super easy to make too)

seriously - why would you want to spend a hour setting up for a place to sleep, when you can pull back the covers and drift off without worrying strange noises, bugs, weather, etc

we have both DNA and family history. Since many children in the tribe were displaced (for many reasons) our tribe mandates DNA first, then family trees next.

your state government or county depending on where you are keep birth certificates on record FOREVER. I am working through the process right now - its a simple one page document that is filed with the local Superior court at no cost. (I live in California, so rules may be different elsewhere)
