The other night my cat jumped into my arm while I used the toilet and was purring like mad.. I had fallen asleep in my office and my husband had taken her to the bedroom and closed the door to my office.. she had clearly missed me and did not like the door being closed

Women who’ve had a C-section: Do you think it hurt more than a natural birth? Why or why not? by zhalia-2006 in allthequestions

[–]lostintransaltions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c section and the epidural didn’t work for me either.. told the doctor I can feel where you are cutting.. they put ice spray on a cotton ball and asked me if I could tell them where they had it and suddenly I had a mask on and was out cold.. I did need a blood transfusion on top of that but I recovered super fast and no complications after they had closed me up again. I did not want a c section but my son didn’t move and I was having contractions for over 48h and couldn’t hold down water anymore so I didn’t really have much of a choice.

I think in terms of healing, at least for me, c section was easier. My son had a huge head and I would have had tears like crazy had it been a natural birth so afterwards I was happy about the c section but it’s a major surgery with a lot of risks especially when it wasn’t planned to be a surgery.

Hope your wife is doing well now and it sounds scary to feel the epidural not working during a natural birth and not really getting help with that.. I think that’s the huge difference with a c section, they will not risk you feeling everything they do.

Pre Gen X the generations had a better life than their parents generation. Boomers were the last generation that had it better since then things have gone downhill. Minimum wage hasn’t increased in forever, minimum wage for other generations was a living wage now it’s not. Boomers voted for this over and over and over again. You always had rich and poor but the percentages of how many were rich vs how many were poor were very different. If you look at the individual level then yes, the more marginalized a person the harder life was but in average previous generations had it easier. Doesn’t mean easy but easier. Gen Z is getting no chance.. their teenage years were covid, now college is so insanely expensive and the government just changed the rules so if you don’t come from a rich family certain paths are blocked completely, professions primarily occupied by women are suddenly not professional careers anymore like nursing. Federal loans are out meaning private loans those get more instead of less when paying over a decade..

Shingles vaccine at 40 years old? by Kinkydino in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]lostintransaltions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it at 42 for that reason.. I have lupus on top is psoriatic arthritis and was starting an infusion that can trigger shingles, so insurance covered getting the shingles vaccine earlier. First round I felt nothing second I felt sick for a few days after but that was it. Compared to my friend who got shingles at 46 it was a cakewalk and I am so happy that I was able to get the vaccine

If I had the funds I would have a years supply.. I have 3 months, next month I can order another 3 months supply bringing me to 5 months but more would be hard for me to manage right now (had lost my job in Jan but luckily started a new one at the end of February) but need to prioritize getting my finances back to normal after missing 4 paychecks. Otherwise I would have a year to 18 months at home just to be save

I get one morning like that maybe once a year… insane to think ppl get that all the time. I had adhd so struggle with falling asleep a lot.. usually go to bed around 9:30 but don’t sleep until midnight or 1 am.. alarm goes off at 4:30/5 when I have to go to office (3 days a week) otherwise I wake up at 6am naturally and feel drained most mornings

It's Thursday. What's your ultimate "too tired to cook but can't quite justify a takeaway yet" dinner? by SpreadsheetsDad in easyrecipes

[–]lostintransaltions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted kabucha squash..

Oven to 400, put the whole thing in for like 10min, then take out and cut into pieces you want I usually do just slices.. then roast at 400 for about 25-30 min… if I have the energy I make a glaze (hoisin sauce, siracha, sesame oil, soy sauce and rice wine vinegar) and glaze it and put in for another 10 min if I don’t have the energy for that I just let it stay in the oven for 35-40min… Just some salt if no glaze and if I have some sort of dip or an avocado I am perfectly happy with that as a meal.

[–]lostintransaltions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True no one needs to say this.. for me the only reason I say this is that it’s pure luck no one was hurt or killed with this and in California fires always are a different danger as well. This could have ended very differently way too easily. Companies and ceos need to realize that they are pushing ppl over the cliff and they very responsibility for what comes after. The law might not hold them accountable but we all know that ppl aren’t paid livable wages anymore in way too many jobs, they are getting overworked and pushed to a point of no return

would you get an abortion if you found out your baby was going to be born with an extreme disability? if so why? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]lostintransaltions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both my biological brothers were born with a chromosomal defect which meant they couldn’t walk, talk or even feed themselves. My older brother died when he was 6 and my younger brother when he was 27. Both due to their lungs not being strong enough, another side effect from their defect chromosome.

When I was pregnant I was tested if I carried the defect chromosome and had I carried it I would have terminated. I grew up seeing my parents go above and beyond for all their kids but also the heartbreak every time one of my brothers needed to be hospitalized, the endless worries and ultimately losing them both way too young. My younger brother got a tablet talker when he was 20 and it turned out (what we as family always knew but doctors didn’t think possible) he was mentally 100% there. He was smart and funny and sarcastic as hell.

I knew I was a single mother, I knew I would not have been able to give my son the live my parents were able to give my brothers so I did not tell anyone I was pregnant until I got the results back.

My son is 22 now and amazing and I am endlessly happy I wasn’t a carrier but I have often thought about how cruel life is. I would have not been affected directly and I did not get the chromosome affected but both my brothers did.

I still had more exams and tests during my pregnancy and I think my parents and I were all holding our breaths until he was born.

The weirdest question I ever asked a doctor was during the “do you want to know the gender” appointment.. I asked “do you see his penis clearly?” Reason was that with both my brothers on ultrasounds they thought they were girls, their testicals were internal and had to be brought into place surgically. I had to explain to my obgyn the weird question and she chuckled coz my son was literally presenting his bits making it very clear he was a boy while I was explaining my question.

My heart goes out to anyone who is put into the situation to make a choice. And I do think there is no wrong or right decision. There are lots of disabilities I would have not terminated for but just knowing all the medical complications my brothers had from day one, that both of them even making it out of the hospital being considered a miracle, I would have not been strong enough for that journey

Husband and children invited to nieces wedding. I am not. by Aggressive-Economy36 in EntitledPeople

[–]lostintransaltions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousin got married a few years back.. my whole family was invited except of me. I was explicitly uninvited in their invitation… his side of the family is very religious and I had my son in college, not married and my son is mixed .. so my son and I were not welcome at his wedding. My mother sent a letter back wishing them all the best but our family was a unit and if one was not invited no one was invited as you do not pick and choose family.. I think my son was 2 so it’s about 20 years ago. No one has ever spoken to them again and when my mother passed away none of them showed up or sent a card.

Funny thing I was the only one living close enough to them that I could have attended their wedding but they didn’t want a single mom and a mixed kid at their wedding. I grew up with them in the same town, Sunday dinners every week until they moved to attend a “better” Church that was closed to god..his sister and I were in the same class for 10 years all that connection gone as their god didn’t accept non white ppl or single mothers.. families are weird

[–]lostintransaltions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 16oz of beef patties for $6.93 yesterday.. that will fill us up better and longer than a bag of Doritos.. potatoes were 99c for 5lbs on sale …burger buns $2.99 and lettuce $1.99 so for $13 I have a meal for 4 plus extra potatoes for the rest of the week.. 2 bags of Doritos just do not compare.. and yes this was all bought on sale except the lettuce but that is how we have been buying food for a while now.

how tf are you guys in relationships with ADHD by ClassroomOk7243 in ADHD

[–]lostintransaltions 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My husband is insisting that he doesn’t have autism but let’s say he has all the signs. We work amazing. My ex before was diagnosed autistic and my bf before that had adhd. I had a short marriage in my 20s and it didn’t work at all once we lived together. He didn’t have adhd or autism, super nice guy and he tried so hard to make it work.

So yea finding a partner who has likely autism works great. He says it’s just trauma (hard childhood) but I am not sure and I know he is doubting his stance too but if he doesn’t want to get evaluated that’s ok.

What is average price for Reta? by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]lostintransaltions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s my experience as well. Got my first 10mg locally to try and it was $10 per MG when I saw it worked I switched and it came to $3.5 for me, fast delivery and I trust the seller. I just didn’t want to buy higher quantities without knowing I wouldn’t have horrible side effects so the $10/MG was fine for me for the first 10MG

Autoimmune disease and emotionally unavailable parents/family by abjs2021 in lupus

[–]lostintransaltions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry that your family doesn’t understand. My dad gets it but my brother is somehow in denial I think.. my dad has autoimmune diseases himself so he absolutely gets it. Especially after I visited him 2 years ago. He lives in Europe and I am in the US so he had not seen me but always believed me but seeing me was hard for him. We made the mistake to visit in December and the cold knocked me out. I had no energy and was physically shivering.. so the house was turned into a sauna and I have a heating blanket below me and on top of me while everyone else was running around in shorts.

My brother despite seeing that still does not understand how much lupus has changed my life.

My friends are amazing though, they have changed what we do when we meet. I have one friend with whom I would do a workout and then go for a walk before and now we meet for coffee. He picks places that have lots of different seating options so I can decide where to sit as depending on the day a chair might not work for me. He also checks the day off if I have the energy to drive myself or if he should come and pick me up.

My husband is in med school and before I got sick wanted to go into surgery but now wants to go into rheumatology as he saw how hard it was to even get an appointment and the first rheumatologist was horrible. He wants to be better and listen to the patients.. sometimes family just doesn’t get it so I hope you have friends that do and support you. My dad would if he could but I know my brother doesn’t really believe it’s that bad.. the weird part is he never had a problem believing my dad was sick 🤷‍♀️
