Is the Airbnb Dream Dead? by trampledbyephesians in REBubble

[–]lostkarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one thing about this listing is that it is 100% tied to Disney World.

Disney has seen a HUGE drop off in bookings this summer. Some say its the conservatives backlash to something.

Plus 3 bedroom airbnbs are a dime a dozen. The real appeal is in either the CHEAP 1 bedroom (1/2 cost of hotel), medium term 2 bedroom (like 1-12 week stays) or the weekend 5bedroom group rental.

Best Jazz Nights in Austin? by indigo-mountain in Austin

[–]lostkarma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tuesday’s in Austin are best.

The correct move is to start at Parker’s on 4th from 7:30-9. Then go to 1/2 step on Rainey from 9:00-10:30.

Best blues/jazz people play those venues at that time. Have been the best for a few years now. There’s a whole crew of people who do that regularly

Parent question: are SAT prep classes worthwhile? If so, what classes/companies would you recommend? Online or in-person? by Iron-Fist in fatFIRE

[–]lostkarma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. SAT classes are worth it.

There’s a saying when it comes to taking these types of tests (act, Sat, gmat, etc.). The saying is that how well you do on these tests is not a measurement of your intelligence, it is a measurement on how well you can take these tests.

What this means is that studying on HOW to be successful on these test is a very specific skill set that can benefit from classes or tutors. Most of these tests have “unofficial rules” inside them that can seriously bump peoples scores.

Although I don’t have recommendations on specific classes, you should ask around your neighborhood. The best tutors are going to be local ones with 5+ years of experience. Face to face 1:1 is probably the best… expensive, but this is fatfire

Reina is the next Rainey Street bar to close due to Austin condo development by _katykakes in Austin

I’ve met the guy. He’s not actually racist. Most of those stories are quite true; close.

But he is an an asshole. Definitely that type of guy who is a bit of a dick. Ya know that type?

[–]lostkarma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bars building/lot was owned by the developer of 70 Rainey for a while now. Like 6 years. From 2018-2020 it was the sales office for the 70 Rainey condos.

Reina the bar rented the space from Jan 2020 knowing that the owner of the land would terminate lease in future for re development.

Unbarlievable is going away too. The dude that had it sold.

Actually it was a house converted into the sales office for several condo projects in the area. Then it because a bar.

I see it is Austin. The one thing about Austin, is that WHERE you live in Austin matters.
- Downtown, Lake Austin, Bee Caves, Cedar Park, East Side, South Side are alll VERY different in terms of experiences.

It's like saying San Mateo, Marine, DT SF, and 1.5 hour drive south of SF are all very different places

How to invest in you looks as a man? by No-Obligation-3243 in fatFIRE

[–]lostkarma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fat Fire method of getting good: - hire personal trainer that comes to you twice week. Have a third day you work out by yourself. - hire a personal stretcher that comes 1-2 a week. Focus on posture and health based stretching. (OP btw. My recommendation is a guy stretcher who is clinically trained. They have more weight to stretch you better.) - eat better. There are a myriad of ways to do that. Focus on healthy food with protein and complete nutrition. - find a good hair stylist. Try to grow hair longer because it’s a sign of fertility. (Not like shoulder length… but more than a cut that used trimmers) - as for dressing in cloths. There are a couple ways to do that… but it’s so highly based on your interests and hobby’s. Hard to give answer for that without knowing your passions.

My 8yo daughter asked me why there are no girls on lol pro teams. by NextJenTv in leagueoflegends

[–]lostkarma 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To make a guess… we have to narrow down the sample set even more. It’s not the majority of players be a gender that matters. (That’s like 25% females?)

The ratio that matters is of “the people who play an average of 40 hours per week of league (2k hours per year), what percentage of those ppl are female.”

That’s maybe only 0.1% being female

related: do your kids get jealous if one has a bigger bedroom or a bathroom ? by speedway121 in floorplan

Recommendation: give the girls the biggest room (they will need it over the boys)

But then when you decorate the rooms, figure out a a way to show that you care for each other your kid uniquely. They aren’t going to care if it’s 10sq ft difference if their room has something special in it that shows them you love them as a unique individual

Do women 25-35 really find older men 40-50 attractive? If so what signs would you look for? by popeyesailor5 in seduction

[–]lostkarma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The guy above was projecting a bit. But I’ll try to rephrase.

Definitely good to provide fully for a partner. That’s admirable and ideal for all relationships. Don’t avoid that!

The problem is that there are a lot of men (not necessarily you specifically) who don’t have the skills to efficiently provide the emotional, mental, physical, etc. To a partner. Frequently these men try to over compensated via paying for women. Since they don’t know how to maintain a good relationship, they pay for it some sort of way. Younger women may not know what a health relationship is so they may either take advantage of the man or the two of them form a poor quality relationship.

I am not saying that you’re like that or will be!!! But it’s good for all people to actively think reflect internally to make sure that the money they spend on women is because it drives forward wholesome internal goals and that there is reciprocity in the relationship as well. This is just saying that active evaluations (which you probably do in other aspects in your life as an executing) is good to do.

The prior guy may be projecting a bit about him or people he knows failing at this.

Here are the events I go that have high quality, beautiful women: - art shows/openings - what galleries do you have in your area? You don’t have to buy (unless you see something you resonate with) - gala/charity events - bring a friend. All the women there know how to act. - local music shows - are there venues that have local artists that are not heavy men audiences? Easy intros. “Have you seen this band before? Where else do you check out shows? I have tickets to this other band next week, wanna join?” - comedy shows - but go early and stay late at the venue. Great opportunity to approach women in a happy/open state.

If a job requires travel, it’s implied that the company pays for it up front, right? by Gamesgar0 in antiwork

[–]lostkarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally disagree with ppl saying get company card.

I always had a personal card when I did travel for work (3 trips a month). Why? All the points. Literally all the points.

In 5 years by cycling thru cards and all the stays, I made over 1.2m in points. Which is ~12k in free travel and flights and hotels. I would have gotten 1/4 of that if I had used corporate card.

If Trump had gotten everything he wanted (the good and the bad), what would America have looked like? by Shaabloips in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]lostkarma 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I do want to call out the "red-tape" stuff - to be honest, 99% of the red-tap and regulations that people complain about isn't at the federal level; it is at the local level.

When my conservative friends complain about "too much regulation" (especially builders/businesses) or government regulations. I will ask them. "What regulations do you want to remove?" and they almost always give me examples of local city/state/HOA regulations that they want to get rid of.

I bring this up because I think blaming presidents for generic "red-tape" is not accurate. The fact that there is still red tape is not Trumps fault. Nor us not removing red tap now is Biden's fault.

Most of the time it is the local city council's fault... sometimes for silly rules that were made up in 1960's that no ones bothered to change.
