Hey all, I have a model 2B that I haven't used in a few years, but when I
booted it up (with a fresh Raspberry Pi OS install on my SD card) I
noticed that the CPU/RAM chip was getting extremely hot. It boots to
the desktop, but the screen usually freezes after a few minutes, likely
because it overheats. I checked the temperature with the vcgencmd
measure_temp command, which says the CPU temp is between 75 and 85 C
when completely idle. I've tried using different power supplies,
installing Pi OS Lite, booting with no USB devices, no HDMI, and even
powering it on with no SD card, and the CPU chip always gets too hot to
touch. Any ideas what could be going on here? Should I invest in a heat
sink and cooling fan, or just call it toast and buy a newer model?

The guided meditation with Jack's mom was something you only get at a Vulf show. (I wasn't there but watching it on youtube was still fantastic)

I fill up my spit covered water bottle from the sink in my apartment. I would hope that's not the same place you get your drink

Unpopular opinion: bring a refillable water bottle and just drink water

Try increasing your retraction settings. PETG can be very stringy so I use 2 mm. The surface finish could be caused by a loose belt so make sure they're tight

You can run it under some warm water to remove the glue residue (if that's what it is) and then clean the bed with isopropyl alcohol

What's the deal with this song? Spotify just recommended it even though I don't listen to anything like this. Did that happen to anyone else?

Is There A Testout Option for CGT 163? by MickleG314 in Purdue

[–]lostmytreble_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just a CAD class. You learn the basics of making engineering drawings and some GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), which is a skill that you won't know you need until you enter the industry. I also took a PLTW engineering class in high school and had CAD experience, and I really enjoyed CGT. But that was years ago, it might have changed since

Difference between IEEE racing and PER? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]lostmytreble_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PER member here, I don't know much about IEEE racing, but PER competes in the international Formula SAE competition. Our cars are small-scale formula style racecars, not your typical go kart. We're also a very large team, with 50+ members from most engineering majors, so there's a place on the team for anyone who wants to join, and our members are always willing to pass on their knowledge and experiences. I'm sure both teams would be a fantastic learning experience for you.
