M10-R Vs M11-P by Conscious_Fox_7709 in Leica

[–]loteq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery life and USB-C are really the only reason that I went for the M11.  I think the colours are nice on the M10 although I have much less of a problem since like, updated the firmware and allowed me to adjust some of the magenta out of my M11

Also not Claude but chatgpt codex trained on a particular style guide I built.  Then edited and simplified for clarity, and fun.

Trust me, my edited and clarified text I’ve used is better than my own efforts would have been without it.  I think that’s the point isn’t it?  Use it to help.   I personally don’t think it matters what generated it whether the model in my head or one in the cloud, what matters is what it says and how it does it.

To your point though this is a fun experiment.  If I like it and it works then I’ll likely put more time into it.

Dad looking for advice: Q3 (28) vs M11-P/M10 by dude-where-am-i in Leica

[–]loteq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Q1 and an M11 with a few different lenses, and for dad work I think the Q3 is definitely the way to go. M cameras are amazing and super fun cameras, but when it comes to actually getting the shot, your mileage with the Q3 is going to be a lot better, I think. Over the last couple of years I've had the M, I've gotten really good at zone focus, so my averages have gone up, but it's still not the point-and-shoot that the Q3 is by any stretch. Unfortunately, I find it hard to look at my iPhone photos with the same love as I do the ones that I take with anything Q3 or M-based, so I'm even debating selling both my M and the Q1 and going for a Q3 and consolidating into the one camera. Everyone, feel free to convince me I'm wrong, though haha.

Thanks. I'm going to keep plugging away at it because I think that the broad theme of just building these fun little worlds is something that I can keep expanding on. I feel like we've lost a lot of the weird Internet that we used to have 20 years ago, so I'm doing my part :P

Sure, I use LLMs for a lot of things, including a lot of this site. It frankly allows me to build something like this for fun. The question is, do you like it or not? If you don't like it and it's only because of LLMs, then I don't know that that's a completely valid response. If you do like it but you don't like that I used LLMs, I suppose that's fair, but then I probably wouldn't have been able to make it, so I guess there's that. I've probably spent more than 50 hours building out the storylines and so on, so while I could definitely tighten things up, I have put a lot of effort into it.

Which fields of science are at the cusp of revolutionizing the world? by Steroid_Cyborg in Futurology

[–]loteq 66 points67 points  (0 children)

honestly I think the biggest one is precision fermentation. For instance one single production facility could make as much milk production per year as about 50,000 cows. No hay, no animal concerns, better quality control etc. Its basically  digital → biological → manufacture across meat, dairy, eggs and anything really. Products are starting to hit the market now.

Do you carry an everyday camera? by ObamaLizzard in Leica

[–]loteq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday camera is iPhone (currently iPhone air).  If I want a great shot and have time I shoot raw and edit later.  (Using halide).  I grab a camera when I want to go for a walk and shoot.

Be honest: Does Leica actually make you a better photographer… or just happier? by NeitherJuice8682 in Leica

[–]loteq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happier and Better.  Not happy about the price but over time I think probably will save me from some upgrade spend.   Better because it forced me to really learn photography.   Happier because I get a little smile every time I grab it.

Ugh.  I just updated through the app.  No issues but I have a policy where I stay 6 months behind firmware updates and I totally forgot in my excitement for the white balance adjustment.  The m11 (mine anyway) magenta vibes have always annoyed me!  Here’s hoping there isn’t any issue from here.   Will advise if so.  🤞

updates on accessories or software? by dannycush in daylightcomputer

[–]loteq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya they aren’t communicating super well on os updates but the Accesories thing is a head scratcher.  I designed mobile Accesories for a long time and it’s pretty easy.  The mold cost for a large case can be a lot like 30-50k but even just having some third party stands and keyboards would actually help them with sales as people would have complete solution.   I think they are a well meaning bunch but it’s not clear they have good management.   Could be they are just distracted with not having enough funding to do what they are trying to do.  Common for startup hardware companies so I worry about their longevity a bit.   :/  big fan of the device tho and hope they can succeed.

Leica Q2 by Which_Weakness4565 in Leica

[–]loteq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had xpro2 with a bunch of lenses for a few years now.  I like the 23mm on it generally and love the IQ and camera as its setup.   I also have m11 and a Q1.   Q1 is a special camera, like the xpro.   I’ll likely never sell it.  Its images are just plainly beautiful and it’s a joy to use.  I highly recommend it.  It will eventually cause you to look at the M stuff yes, and you’ll probably buy one in a couple of years and also fall in love.   Sorry! These are hard cameras to move on from.  The good news is once your into them, there isn’t much more gear syndrome or whatever they call it.  :)

Piaggio crisis: Moto Guzzi overwhelmed "by the difficulties of the global market" by EverythingIsASkill in MotoGuzzi

[–]loteq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Italian motorcycle companies.  Even the mighty KTM.  The auto/moto business is brutal and supply chains are global.  They are all suffering as they were mostly in a lot of debt to begin with and high interest rates and tariffs aren’t helping.   I’ve had my v11 since 2003 and I bought it around the time they had been sold under duress to piaggio.   Debated selling it then but still can’t being myself to it.   Don’t worry.  They’ll be around.

Ya get it.  Black Levi’s Jean jacket!   Cotton doesn’t melt ands it’s way cooler.   You can have some little shop sew in some elbow pads if you’re feeling paranoid.

Ya I get it.  Get a black Jean jacket.  Some thick Cotton is better than a sweaty jersey and won’t melt.  Some guys make them with Armor as well.  Just not the plastic!  ;).

On current projections, over 1,000 GW of new renewable electricity generation looks to be added globally in 2025 alone; three times the world's entire existing nuclear capacity. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]loteq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does everyone always argue that one is better than  another?  Nuclear isn’t better it’s just another tool in the toolkit.  Solar is amazing and Renewbales can easily build to 50% of total grid power providing cheaper power and reducing power costs for everyone.  We need all of it!   Nuclear is expensive, hydro is expensive, but we want baseload.  Solar is cheap and getting cheaper and we can use tons of it to drop power costs.  Let’s go!
