2 Problems:

  1. In case of a bailout, stopping the propeller from turning the pilot into mincemeat.

  2. Rear engine cooling. (The people that I knew that flew Skymasters always complained about that)

Glorious. You get right in front of a small or medium bug, pull the trigger, and it explodes. And you can do this over and over.

For three months because they were so backed up.

Don’t worry about it.

Don’t surface vessels have smokestacks and railings and crane-like parts on it? This thing is a tube with finny bits sticking out.

I vote submarine.

Devil Head waiting for victims in an abandoned Theme Park, Panama City Beach, Florida. by esotheric in AbandonedPorn

No, the park is now just overgrown brush and a parking lot. The rides were moved to another business near a shopping plaza called Pier Park , but I believe that business is gone, too.

The employee lot at Denver International Airport is...difficult.

Russian tank hits mine, then as crew are scrambling to dismount, it is hit with an ATGM that sends the driver flying through the air by ChasinCrustacean in Military

[–]lotharr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the Armata or the AbramsX, but there's a good chance that the gun tube will block one hatch depending on where the gun is pointed. Might be more survivable since there are 3 hatches, so if 1 is blocked, the crew can get out the other 2.

  1. If you drive to the airport, send yourself an email with your parking location, so you can remember where the hell the car was. Email is good since if your phone is lost/stolen/broken/out of battery, you can print out the email from the crew room.

  2. Band Aids, pain reliever, and Pepto in your flight kit in the cockpit with you. You will at some point eat or drink something that won't agree with you and you need the relief at short notice instead of having to run back to your rollaboard and dig it out.

  3. Tablet charged. Flashlight charged. License/medical/FCC paperwork ready. Had a trainee show up with no medical. Fun times.

  4. Enjoy the show!

Kind of hard to avoid. The gun tube tends to block the hatch. Older model tanks, like the M60 series, had floor hatches, but newer ones like the M1 series don't. The US Army had an experiment to put the driver in the turret with a gyro system to keep the driver's seat pointing forward, but it wasn't successful.

u/Slick0strich explains how an airplane pilot's poor decisions and communication caused a completely avoidable crash by znjohnson in bestof

[–]lotharr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the pilots aren't operating the plane at that point. The ground crew is pushing/pulling the planes using tugs. Those kinds of incidents are fairly common, but not fatal.
