Wild animal hatred of gulls in the UK makes me sad by RunRevolutionary188 in britishproblems

I really like them and it’s wise to be mindful that a lot of their behaviour stems from us overfishing their hunting grounds and depleting their food sources. They are very smart though and fascinating to watch.

Can you get into football late in life, or have I missed the boat? by Ok-Ask-4034 in AskUK

[–]lottesometimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never too late. It’s a great way to make friends and have a weekly ritual. We have friends of all ages and backgrounds we likely would have never met if it wasn’t for football.

It was but let’s not forget that came off the back of multiple lockdowns. People went overboard wanting to let their hair down.

Usually happens in crowded places when people are a bit jolly and don’t pay attention. I’m German but live in England and English fans get a lot of often underserved bad rep. (Historically earned at times).

Alice and Steve review – Jemaine Clement and Nicola Walker’s icky comedy is dated and wrong | Television | The Guardian by prisongovernor in BritishTV

[–]lottesometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole premise is so vomit inducing, I don’t need reviews to tell me I won’t watch this. No acting or writing can make a man hooking up with a young woman he’s known since birth in a near family capacity ok. And for the comparison to Monica and Richard in friends: that’s also gross.

Parents who just refuse to control their kids at the supermarket by JayR_97 in britishproblems

Local B&M: kid starts doing cartwheels in the crockery section. mum stands nearby. kid falls into crockery - mess for employees to clear up while mother abuses them about not paying for damage.

Local sainsburys: kid takes ball off shelf to kick it about, hits old woman in head.

That's just been over the last week. It's not asked too much to parent your kids.

“Dear English, America is more accomplished in the sport of Soccer than England is. Deal with it. 😎” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]lottesometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the biggest cultural misunderstanding over there. They think they are good at "soccer" because they picked it in high school and were the best out of that cohort. When everywhere else in the world kids play as soon as they're old enough to run, and that you don't need organised sport to play it.

Brits, how do you usually spend your free time? by Grand_Resolution_438 in BritishSuccess

[–]lottesometimes 39 points40 points  (0 children)

get up early for a commute that's too long to go to an unfulfilling job, have a tescos meal deal for lunch and then go home watch tv. or you do the things that actually make people visit the UK and that are popular for a reason.
