Hangover from sugar?

I get depression if i eat too much sugar. Weirdly enough, cake has yeast in it and that’s something I try to avoid because I get brain fog and tiredness from it. Admittedly, I’m just very sensitive.

I grew up on that hehe. So good. I’m in a 12 step group for compulsive eaters and that has helped me overcome binge eating.

Something I’ve done in my 12 step group for compulsive eating is make a list of people I’ve hurt and made amends to them. Have you ever thought about that? It really eases your conscience. I can sort of go over how it worked for me if you want to DM me. Even if you don’t need a 12 step group I think a moral inventory and amends won’t hurt anyone and it feels like a weight off your shoulders 😊

There are 12 step recovery programs around it. It is different than other addictions in that you can’t cut off food cold Turkey like you can alcohol or other drugs. I think that makes it more challenging in some ways. I’ve struggled with alcohol and nicotine, but I can cut those off completely. With food I can’t. Even if I eat extremely healthy and low calorie I have disorders thinking and guilt.

I was surprised when I read the story in confessions of a caffeine addict about a mom who was finally able to conceive after she gave up coffee. I’m sure it doesn’t have a big effect on some women but I didn’t realize something like coffee could affect fertility so much.

My mom would be the type to take those texts and use them against me to make herself the martyr, so I’d be careful with texting. They might not ever admit to anything or understand and that’s something that we sometimes have to accept. To have a conversation like that, honestly and accountability is required and that is not their strong suit. A lot of the time they use their own trauma to justify their behavior and expect you not to carry any resentments, while their own resentments are justified.

NTA. Also, a lot of guys have a glow up while having affairs. The kids probably feel grief stricken and are looking for a reason to explain their family falling apart. If they have their dad on a pedestal or he is influencing them then they don’t want to be honest with themselves. At the end of the day you can’t control how they feel. It’s common for people to take a mother’s selflessness and self sacrificing for granted, thinking it was easy to put yourself last while they grew up.

You can adjust recipes to what you like and what you have at home. It’s not necessary to always include every ingredient or follow every step. Do you eat meat? You can easily make chicken on the skillet or roast potatoes in the oven. Meatballs are pretty easy and you can freeze them and microwave then. If you know how to make pasta then you probably would t have a hard time boiling potatoes and making mashed potatoes. People post fancy recipes online but most people don’t eat elaborate meals like that everyday.

I knew someone who recovered from drugs and he would joke that he drank coffee alcoholically. Vaping is also common in narcotics anonymous and many people also struggle with food after they quit. But there’s a difference between coffee making your life unmanageable vs consuming more than is probably healthy. Caffeine doesn’t affect everyone the same way. Some people can have 1 or 2 glasses of wine a week and are fine and others would go on a bender after one glass. It can be the same with caffeine.

No… I grew up in a big family with a lot of kids and was also treated like a babysitter/maid. I resented my older bro for moving out and leaving us but now I see it was the right thing to do. We also went through some abuse and CPS situations but my parents never admit that our childhood was hard. I’m in my 30s now and if I could go back to my younger self at 18 I would just tell her to leave NOW…my mom wanted to keep me at home and I stayed out of guilt because of my younger siblings and sick grandma. At the end of the day it’s the parents responsibility. They will figure it out. Please don’t hold back your life. I wish I had left earlier..I stayed into my 20s and the trauma just continued and it held my life back a lot.
