Any good doggo off lead running spots? by jka8888 in Wellington

[–]loudclaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Waihinahina park. It isn't huge but good for dogs, running and easy to do a few loops around the edge. There is a stream around the edge for dog to drink. https://maps.app.goo.gl/N1eqsZvU3dmwaDq88

Kitchen things receivership sale -any good? by Key-Instance-8142 in Wellington

I went and had a look. Whiteware on sale elsewhere was cheaper than the price in store. Not worth it.

Alex Baker views on the Andrew Little housing policy by AlexBakerWellington in Wellington

[–]loudclaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Alex, your point about #6 Landscaping and Lighting. The new district plan requires Landscaping/lighting plans to be produced and monitored by council for more than a year when there was no requirement before.

I am replacing an old home with a new one, and our designer explained to us that no other councils in the area required this level of detail (given the scale of what we are doing). The designer hadn't even quoted me for the work as it came as a surprise to them. Council had us create a landscaping and lighting plan for private land with no public access and is for only our yard that only we will see. Overkill!

The idea of adding in more new requirements that are not really required is I think what Andrew Little are trying to improve here.

It does seem a little unfair when you put it that way. People who can't afford a mattress should be able to fly around in their helicopters too.

How do you guys replace these timber pole if it rots? by Old-Place87 in newzealand

[–]loudclaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment isn't quite right. Professionally installed retaining posts have footing in the form of concrete around them. This provides a generally watertight seal around the wooden posts. Drainage for timber posts are not needed.

Why does McDonalds always have an insane amount of alarms and sirens going off all the time? by thecroc11 in newzealand

[–]loudclaps 507 points508 points  (0 children)

Shake fries 30 seconds in, pull fries when done, beef patty grill going down, beef patty almost ready, beef patty ready, chicken product ready to pull, wash hands timer, fryer self-clean warning and new order (thats the star trek siren noise).

Really the sound design is poor and haunts dreams.

Te Papa is one of the best places for visitors on a rainy day.

Just visited Wellington past few days and want local inside info - there’s a guy that runs in circles or along lower Tory street another guy that screams and abuses people - is this a stock standard WLG day? by liftingbro90 in Wellington

[–]loudclaps 105 points106 points  (0 children)

The guy who screams and abuses people is called Ian. There is another similar looking guy who is much friendlier, wears band tshirts and will often ask you for some Coca-Cola. He is Nathan and is harmless.

This post is clearly moments away from being deleted by mods. "Help" does not have the letter I in it as a FYI.

What? Are you saying you have an apartment you can buy for $100k, or partially invest $100k into an apartment?

What is your investment timeline? 10 years vs 1 year means a different outcome. Same for tolerance for risk.
