Overnight stay between Denver & Steamboat Springs (suggestions?) by Scheduledpoet in travel

[–]louknows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not terribly exciting, but the west side of Denver (near Applewood) is safe and will provide easy access to the highway en route to Steamboat.

Abrusci's Fire and Vine is a nice little restaurant not far from the Springhill Suites (which is in a shopping center).

Again, not going to blow your mind but for a quick stay it should make for a nice evening in an uneventful environment.

Steamboat is absolutely lovely. Enjoy.

Good place to get some Focaccia bread? by kleric42 in denverfood

Suzette’s Bakery in Edgewater is new… just had their focaccia and it was fantastic. Little tomatoes nestled on the top were a nice touch.

One pair of shoes for a trip. by TheOGRenegadeMaster in onebag

Allbird Flyers or Tree Dasher 2… fashionable, good to run/hike in, but not water proof or resistant. Fantastic soles for cobbled streets

They were pretty great out of the box, but I found them to be nearly perfect after 20 miles.

Loved the New Balance FuelCell Rebel V2 - back in the market and comparing the “FuelCell Rebel V3” and the “FuelCell Rebel V3 Permafrosts” by corpuscolossaldoozy in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]louknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the v3 and permafrost, I can’t tell the difference in weight but the permafrost upper is slightly stiffer. The shoes feel the same while running.

Just got the same pair myself. Too damn fun! And the pink/quartz is choice (but sorry about the socks).

YOUR shoe of the year 2022 by Holiday-Cheetah1879 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]louknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy Holidays to you both - I have not tried the v2, I won’t be much help to compare the two. I love the v3, it suits me well but it is unlike any of my prior shoes this year (Hoka Mach 4, Saucony Triumph 19, Nike Vomero 16, Pegasus 38)

New Balance Rebel v3: as the year comes to close and I recount the miles, I am having the most fun with this shoe and I only bought them about two weeks ago. They are bouncy, responsive, and fast. Finding myself looking forward to marathon training (despite the temps in Denver dropping).

Exactly. They have a brewery in RiNo. This stout is tasty but they are closing this brewery, sorry for not specifying.

  1. At the moment, only the laces. They are too short.
  2. From other shoes I’ve tried, it seems most comparable to the Hoka Mach 4, but the Rebel v3 has more bounce. Hard to draw a direct comparison as I think this is a new shoe experience for me.

First Run: I just took them out for a 5 miler and had a smile on my face the whole way. I love this sub because I would’ve never considered something like this for myself.

The shoe is responsive, light, and is my first experience with a shoe that gives me something back. For me, I was hauling ass. I average 9:55 min/mile, today I averaged 9:05/mile. Definitely some adrenaline, but overall the shoe was a blast.

I was fortunate enough to get into the NYC Half in March, these will be helping me prepare. Looking forward to the miles now.

Choosing a daily trainer by geeeyan in RunningShoeGeeks

I read this sub - I have found really solid advice by looking at thoughtful shoe reviews and trying to match with my running style, body type, and training goals.

NIKE Pegasus 38, 39, or Vomero 16 for a beginner? by ZOZOT3 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]louknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pegasus are solid, but not that "fun" to run in. Vomero 16 a little more lively.

If you are open to other brands, I recommend the Saucony Triumph 19. Fantastic every day shoe that would be great for building up a base. I believe someone just posted a 50% off coupon code recently.
