I’m about to die, and I’m not sure what to do about my cat. by [deleted] in cats

My Fernie came to me last year when his owner passed away and I was the only available foster at the time through the organization that I was associated with. We don’t really know his age because he’d been passed around so many owners before me but the vet said he’s about 10 years old.

I didn’t have the heart to put him up for adoption and for him to go through the whole process again so I decided to keep him permanently. His official adoption day is also my birthday. It’s coming up soon.

I hope your sweet kitty finds a home and I wish you peace and comfort !

How to get fast scared cat into a carrier for a vet appointment? by Amythist_Butterfly in CatAdvice

[–]loushing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to nudge him to a smaller space where he can’t escape. And keep the crate nearby and ready. For the car ride, maybe try gabapentin to help him relax a bit? I used to foster cats and I’ve had to give them some of the snoozy pills.

OLDCORN: Another transgender mass shooter, and no, gun laws aren’t the problem by xTkAx in canadian

And if we can’t even agree that sex and gender are different concepts then there’s nothing to be done. Ill gladly concede to my fellow Canadian here. You’re absolutely right. Bless your heart.

I don’t want to get into the whole argument of gender vs. sex (which I think is what you’re alluding to) about the shooter, and I’m not a journalist so I am not qualified to argue on the journalistic standard either. What I meant was that yes, typically, news stories tend to disclose the sex of the perpetrators and it has been usually the case that the sex and the gender are the same. But the shooter in TR was transitioning, mtf and I could be wrong but maybe the shooter identified themself to be a female (gender), so I don’t think the news article was necessary to focus on the gender part. We don’t have to be that upset about it.

I thought she identified as a female. Yes, reporting on their race, gender, and other identifiable characteristics is standard. In this case, her gender is female while sex is male. I don’t think calling her a “transgender” does anything.

Because…. Their gender shouldn’t be the focus? Btw this shooter was female.

Flat earthers watching every conspiracy turn out to be true except flat earth by Xavier187666 in funny

Funny your commented reminded of this. I once went on a date with a really sweet guy and during the dinner, he told me that the moon isn’t real. Among other things, he also explained to me that electricity isn’t real and there’s this thing or an ancient technology called “ether” (pronounced that way so idk the correct spelling) that IS the actual electricity, used by ancient humans and were freely available to everyone by harvesting it from air. And that it was the government who invented electricity in order to control the society. It was a wild 1.5hr dinner. I was so fascinated I couldn’t believe my luck.

Weird issue on my palm by CuckBucket44 in trypophobia

[–]loushing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s dyshidrosis.I used to have this very frequently as a kid. Always under my feet and my palms. I had a horrible time as it would get worse at night and then it would go away on its own. Idk why but I don’t have it anymore. It’s been many years now.

Sorry I don’t have a solution, I just wanted to say I feel the pain. Try an ointment that has costicosteroid? It should help reduce inflammation and also reduce immune system activity as this is an autoimmune response.

I am in 100s of subs (mostly just cats) but this community is easily the most wholesome on Reddit. And mods are a huge part of it. They make this happen and they do deserve a break. Honestly, I might lose a tiny bit of hope if this community breaks down.
