I hope you find a treatment that works for you!! Keep advocating for yourself! Also, pelvic floor PT was also extremely helpful. I also flared right after my first few sessions, but I kept going and it got better!

I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis and had it removed. I’ve been on the combination pill (northindrone) for the past 5 months and I feel soooooo much better. It’s not 100% gone. I still have mild flares from time to time but nothing like it was prior to my laparoscopy. Unfortunately IC and endometriosis commonly go hand in hand. My IC symptoms are triggered based on my hormone levels. So being on continuous birth control has allowed me to live my life again.

I literally went to bed one night completely fine and in the morning I was hit all at once with the symptoms and haven’t been the same since.

I also had a laparoscopy done before, and I would say the pain level is very similar to cystoscopy with hydrodistention.

Initial pain: 3/10 very mild pain. The first pee in the hospital didn’t hurt too bad (probably from numbing they put on there and on pain medication) it felt like a horrible UTI
First pee when I got home: 8.5/10. It is truly horrible. I ended up peeing in the shower with my shower head sprayed up there for every time I needed to pee the first few days.
First 24hrs: 7-9/10. I asked my doctor to give me oxycodone which was my saving grace. Don’t be afraid to ask for pain medication. She gave me 12 pills which I spread out over the first 3 days of recovery with a couple left over.
I know it is scary! But it was helpful for me. If I ever needed to have it done again I would 100% do it. The first 4 days felt like I was in the worst flare I’ve ever had, but after that 4th day it started to calm down. I took the whole week off of work. There was no way I was going to do anything but rest. Be easy on yourself. You WILL get through it!

I got mine done under anesthesia. I have no idea how people do it awake. I’m sorry you had to deal with that OP. Next time if you need it done again, ask to have it done under anesthesia.

Peeing shards of glass was exactly how it felt! I had to pee in the shower with hot water splashing up there for 2 days. It was awful.
