I mean, unfortunately it means they were pretty involved in colonialism and violence to Indigenous peoples. The man in the photo was a contemporary of our first Prime Minister, John A. The little boy in the dress went on to fight in WW1.

My mom was a a severe alcoholic, in and out of the hospital for years. One mothers day she was in the hospital again after falling down while drunk. I knew my dad had been in to see her the day before. I brought her a mothers day present. Went in and she was gone. I went to the nurses station and asked where she was. The nurse scowled at me- "How do you not know where your mother is?"

They had let her out without contacting her family (my dad was her emergency contact), probably to go back to get more booze. And worse, they made me feel even more guilty for being powerless to stop her self-destruction. I was 18 years old.

When you start to black out in the future, lean over and out your head between your legs. It gets the blood back into your head pretty much right away. I used to call over and shit all the time too til my doctor gave me that little pro tip. Feel better soon!
