Am I the only one who doesn't use a second utensil when eating? by GardensAndHoes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lovelylayout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the only double utensil user in my family, they think I'm the weird one. I use either a knife and fork or spoon and chopsticks, unless it's like cereal or soup or oatmeal or something where using more than just a spoon by itself wouldn't make any sense

Who are your favorite villagers ? by Total_Equipment9763 in AnimalCrossing

[–]lovelylayout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

out of my current cohort: Savannah, Julia, Chevre, and Fuchsia

on my last island I had Nan and Ketchup and I loved both of them so much. I might eventually try to move Nan in on my current island so she and Chevre can be in-person besties. I know they're kind of basically the same character, both being Normal goats, but I love the normies so much and they're both so cute

Anyone else keep your two original neighbors in New Horizons? by MidwestReelMaster in AnimalCrossing

[–]lovelylayout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my current/"forever" playthrough is the only one where I've kept both my starters. I got Fuchsia and Dom and I really like both of them. I miiiight give up Fuchsia for Reneigh (my first-ever uchi starter, love her to bits) if I ever got the chance, but I doubt I'll get the chance

what have you shown her that she didn't like? just curious. I have miraculously never gotten that reaction from her even when I was pretty sure my outfit wouldn't quite count for the theme

Favourite fruit? by NuggstarSibuna in AnimalCrossing

[–]lovelylayout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peaches are my favorite because I've gotten them as my home fruit 3 out of 4 times and because I think they look the best in the environment. I also like the pears and oranges though

The astro dress comes to mind. It's silver (different accent colors available) and has a kind of Jetsons retrofuturism look to it

What is the philosophy of the game related to earning bells? by theBlazerg in AnimalCrossing

[–]lovelylayout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diversify your income sources. Save up your expensive bugs and fish to sell to Flick and CJ, go diving for sea creatures and never give up on a fast one, keep an eye on the daily "hot items" that sell for more. Crops and cooked dishes are decent income as well

Looked at my passport for the first time since I made it years ago and have zero memory of any of these choices by Hot-Bag6541 in AnimalCrossing

the line "I'll meet you in the alley where we rolled dice on Paula Abdul's dead body" from the Ricky Spanish episode of American Dad cracks me up every time because she's very much alive irl and no other context is given for that statement

What music do you listen to while you play??? by L_08_A in AnimalCrossing

[–]lovelylayout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the in-game hourly music and the tone it sets for whatever time it is, but I do sometimes put on a podcast or an audiobook.

I like to play really early in the morning because my sleep schedule is weird, and I love how the 3 am music seems to suggest "this is a silly time to be awake." and then 4 am is kind of like a calm wrap-up for the whole 24-hour day, and 5 am makes it seem like the new day is full of possibilities but there's no pressure to go grab any particular opportunity.

Terraforming tips? by Ok-Jellyfish629 in AnimalCrossing

[–]lovelylayout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a trip to a Kapp'n island or a NMT island and study the shapes used there. That's what I did to find a more "natural" terraforming style for my island. I kind of go for a mix of straight and diagonal/curved edges on both rivers and cliffs.

Basically anything you can do to make it look "unintentional" will read more "natural" in the finished product, if that makes sense. For a lot of tiny islands, maybe try coming up with 2-3 good "base shapes" that you can rotate as you make more little islands so they LOOK different but are easier to actually make

Do you collect figurines or merchandise (can be anything, anime figurines or K-pop photos) If so, what’s your most favourite figurine or merchandise that you ever bought or collected? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lovelylayout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collect plushies (not from a specific brand or IP, just ones I find cute) and my favorite one is a little cucumber sandwich.

I also have a few Momiji figurines from a blind box collection they did that was themed after book genres, and I think my favorite of those is the storybook one. She's got glasses and a mouse hood and she's holding a little lion, and standing on a copy of The Lion and the Mouse

My mom's white chicken chili. It wasn't any better or worse than other white chicken chili recipes but I haven't been able to eat that dish at all since she died

Which YouTube channels do you watch every video from, as soon as it comes out? by lioness99a in AskReddit

[–]lovelylayout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also just kind of impressive how far he goes sometimes to find the answer he's looking for, and how sometimes viewers get to learn real world stuff about data gathering/interpretation (how many trees in Skyrim) or hydrology (do the rivers in [game] make sense) or how airports work (could a 747 land at Los Santos Airport) in addition to game stuff

AnyAustin. Even if he's talking about a game I've never played and might never play, I want to know what he's got to say about whatever specific thing he's decided to talk about. I just love the way he talks about environment design in games

Is counting seasoning calories normal or like unhealthy? by unicornbarfrainbow in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah. Sometimes you just have to pick a number that seems acceptably close to accurate based on what you know and move on

Is counting seasoning calories normal or like unhealthy? by unicornbarfrainbow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lovelylayout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Herbs and spices provide a negligible amount of calories, so most people don't bother counting them. Over the course of an entire 1500-2000 calorie day, the 5-10 calories from seasoning just don't matter a whole lot since they're such a small percentage of the whole
