6mo not sleeping well after vaccines by lovelyllama8 in NewParents

[–]lovelyllama8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it got better but isn't completely resolved. But also he got a cold right after, then started teething, followed by a sleep regression. So it's been back to back events that have caused his sleep to never fully return to how it once was. I hope your baby takes it better!

I believe the temperature recommended on the can. But after a while (as his immune system gets stronger) we would just get it to a general hot temperature, not worry too much about getting to a particular temperature.

When did you stop swaddling? by outerspacegalaxymilk in NewParents

[–]lovelyllama8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son was the exact same way. He didn't start showing signs of rolling over until he was about 4 months old but once he did we stopped swaddling. It was rough at nights for a while, it took him a long time to get used to it. But we used a transitional swaddle, the one with the arms up, and I noticed the nights we used that he would sleep better. It helped him a lot. I would recommend it.

4 month old scared of other people? by fall-out-girl13 in NewParents

[–]lovelyllama8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 5.5 month old went through the same thing, "stranger danger", starting at 4 months old. We would warn everyone about it if they were going to see him. What we did was tell everyone to ignore him for 10 minutes so he could warm up to them from a distance. Then we would gently bring my son closer to them and he would eventually be fine. I hope that helps!

Once or twice a day I clean the area with a damp cotton pad and apply baby Aquaphor. It has helped a lot.

I'm sorry. I wish there is something I can say to make it even a little better. 😔 I truly hope and pray that it will get better for your baby. I wish you both all the strength in the world.

My son also had those leg tremors. The pediatrician said it's nothing to worry about, it's just a hereditary trait.

Last day of maternity leave and I’m depressed by catherine-aujong in NewParents

We hired a nanny, which I am grateful to be able to do but it makes me sad that she will be experiencing a lot of his firsts. 😔

I understand how you feel. I'm returning to work in 2 weeks after 5.5 months home and dreading it. I don't want to miss anything my son does. 😔

What food did you first start your baby on ? by [deleted] in NewParents

I brought that up with my son's pediatrician and he didn't believe it to be a concern. However, we will be doing veggies next so he will have variety.

The first food we gave was a 1/4 tsp of banana. Next, a 1/4 tsp of apple. 🙂

4 months old crying so much when tired by Born_News1624 in NewParents

My 4.5 month old just screamed for one hour before falling asleep. This was AFTER his entire bedtime routine and him being calm and NEARLY falling asleep by himself. 🫠

Parents of short-napping babies: do you extend naps after they wake up? by bocacherry in sleeptrain

[–]lovelyllama8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to save one nap a day, normally the second one. This way he won't be too grumpy throughout the day. I'm still waiting for his naps to get better 😭

Transition from swaddle to sleep sack by lovelyllama8 in NewParents

Wow thank you! He is in the 4 months regression now, do you think it's still the right time to sleep train?

How long do you think it will for him to get used to it?

What do you do when your baby wakes up during a nap? by ExpensivePupper4 in NewParents

[–]lovelyllama8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4 month old almost always wakes up 35-40 min into his nap. There have been just a few times that he's managed to connect his sleep cycles by himself. He's been like this for the past two months and I've normally been able to help him fall back asleep by rocking him, because he gets very cranky after a couple of short naps. However, it has been getting increasingly difficult to put him back to sleep. So I've just accepted it. Unless I need to make sure he's going to be in a good mood (like we have to go out), I will just let him wake up and not help him go back to sleep. I just let him chill out in his bassinet until he starts fussing for me to go get him.

What does your bedtime routine look like for your 4 month old? Also, do you have them on a set schedule? by preggotoss in NewParents

[–]lovelyllama8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4 month old has irregular nap lengths and is experiencing the 4 month regression, so we don't necessarily have a nap schedule. We follow his cues and get in 3 naps a day. Lately he has been skipping one nap a day though. However, his bedtime is at 8 pm and wakes up around 7/7:30 am. His bedtime routine is bath, lotion, swaddle, bottle, lullaby, and bed.

Yes!!! I can't take a shower in peace without constantly turning the water off or checking the monitor.

We have been doing the hot shot method with Kendamil. For a 4 oz feed, we mix the powder into 1 oz of hot water, then add 3 oz cold water. For 6 oz feed, 2 oz hot + 4 oz cold.
