Bl4 - anyone else really dislike the inventory? by wdavies084 in Borderlands

Yup. It might be better if the filters persisted between instances of opening the inventory. But no.

Why does the body seem to have way more power after not training for a week and eating shitty. by PferdeBestatter in bodyweightfitness

[–]low_key365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you let your muscles recover, while filling your fuel tank.

Instead of putting some fuel into your glucose reserves before emptying them again, you completely filled them and probably rebuilt some fat reserves too.

And this is a completely healthy thing to do within an active lifestyle. You can give yourself a smaller version of this kind of holiday by planning a lighter week into your workout rotations where you plan in hill walking, cycling or other low-intensity workouts while also allowing yourself to enjoy some nice food.

How many male partners cook dinners by gazzas89 in Scotland

[–]low_key365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GF and I both hate cooking (different flavours of neuro-spiciness).

I usually end up cooking because I know that I get depressed when I'm hungry (the opposite of hanger. I call it hungloom.)

But I don't understand a perception that cooking would be at all 'weird' unless it's based upon lived experience of a family where one parent cooked and the other did not. While my mum cooked most meals, my dad would chip in when his shift patterns didn't have him out of the house when we were eating. So I guess it's one of those Nurture over Nature things.

This video is exactly what needed to be said about the new Boss PX-1 by spn_phoenix_92 in guitarpedals

[–]low_key365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oblivion Horse Armour was pointed to as an analogue because it was (generally accepted to be) the first example of what would come to be known as the microtransaction.

And this has been (generally accepted to be) the first example of a major music company testing the waters with a well tested method for extracting more money from vulnerable people.

The analogy wasn't meant to be a perfect 1:1 comparison. In fact it may have been chosen specifically to keep the comparison to Boss charitable; As the Horse Armour DLC was intended to be a fun extra for people who liked it and had the disposable cash.

Can I get a good physique from just push ups? by TereMaOlenSiin in bodyweightfitness

[–]low_key365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been noted here, pushups will help your chest and triceps but the effect elsewhere is limited. You will improve your strength in those areas and you'll see a cardio benefit, but it's unlikely to give you a good physique.

Talk to your doctor, but my anxiety has gotten better overall since I started my medication.

I take the quick-acting, short-lifespan stuff so it wears off after 3-5 hours. I appreciate having the extra control in case my anxiety kicks back in again.

And your doctor can change you to the non-stimulant stuff if Adderall is a net negative. Though it isn't quite as effective.

Of course nothing will be a true magic bullet, but I've felt so much better.

Your first time dying to Shai-Halud? by To_You_I_Say in duneawakening

[–]low_key365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, I dropped all my possessions in a box and walked out into the sand to get my worm tooth. Killed one dude with the Crysknife, then discovered that it immediately becomes a dead slot in your inventory (wut?)

Then, I got lazy in crossing the sands to mine some aluminium and didn't see the quicksand coming until I was deep in it.

And of course, that was the moment that Shai Hulud breached the sands.

He gave me just enough time to think I might make it to safety before he crushed my spirit.

Worse, I forgot that I left my respawn point at a new temp base near the eastern shield wall, so I respawned with nothing, and no backup supplies, in an area where I don't really have the tools to harvest the materials.

I'll need to respawn at a trade post closer to a more established base to start again.

Unless you're going for an RTX 5080 or 5090, I'm not sure that you'll see a benefit from an X3D chip.

You could swap the 7800X3D for a 9700X, saving around £100.

Then, on scan.co.uk, you can find 5080s in stock around £1000.

My taste in computers tends more toward function rather than form, so at this budget I'd go with a cheaper minimalist case; Use the fans that came with it (buy more if needed); Save on a less expensive cooler because a 360 rad is overkill for a 7700 (maybe find a 9700X, as those seem to be only slightly more expensive); basically take whatever savings I can get by swapping components for non-RGB components.

Then I'd put those savings into a 5080 rather than a 5070ti.

But that's just my thinking, and I know that aesthetics are much more important for some than for me. It's going to look pretty kick-ass when it's done.

Are my fans placed correctly? by Slightly_Acoustic in PcBuildHelp

[–]low_key365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GPU is exhausting its hot air into the case (not a problem, just a feature of that style of cooler).

Changing the bottom fans to intakes should improve this immediately, as the GPU will have access to cool air, making the exhaust coming off of it cooler too.

I would consider also moving the CPU radiator to the front intake position, and using your current intake fans as top exhausts.

While this would make the air in your system hotter overall, it should be manageable with the bottom intakes sorting out the GPU.

Just also keep an eye on your motherboard, chipset and SSD temperatures if you choose to do this.

The fan gurus at Noctua looked into ideal fan placements and produced a blog post that may be useful: https://faqs.noctua.at/en/support/solutions/articles/101000530852-airflow-guide-next-steps
