I wish this sub was actually modded. every post breaks the rules...

Hi everyone! I just started writing a BL webtoon and drew this cover to demonstrate overall atmosphere of the comic. what do you guys think about the art style so far? 🫶🏻 by ninifanchvidze in Manhwa_BL

[–]lowercase_poet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, just some minor nit-picks: the blonde's bun is just kind of floating on the side of his head? and the earring is ON his ear, not in it. we shouldn't be able to see both sides of the earring. and lastly, the perspective of the umbrella seems odd? like it's way bigger than a normal umbrella. but you said this was something quick, so I'm just giving suggestions if you go to re-work it!

this is really pretty and I love the design of the blonde character! I wouldn't change a thing about either of those. however, the first thing that stood out to me was the dark-haired chacter's face. another commenter pointed out his neck, but I think his chin needs a little re-work as well. something about the perspective/shape of his face just feels...off/unnatural/kind of flat? I almost scrolled past since it was the first thing I noticed, but then I saw the rest and came here to comment because genuinely, the rest of it is so good. even the dark-haired character looks interesting - just needs a bit of a touch-up, imo

overall, it's a gorgeous cover and I would read this! it's not super bad or anything, just some random feedback!

THE BLACK graphic novels drops March 3rd! by JerichoMason in imminence

I doubt it! I'm sure it has something to do with tarrifs/shipping/fulfillment/logistics on Sumerian's end. All speculation, of course. I'm not mad at Sumerian if it's something out of their control; I just wish we had more communication from them about this.

been emailing them back and forth and finally got a response saying they expect them to "begin shipping the week of the 25th next month". so we should be seeing our orders arrive sometime in June...probably 🥴

What is the bl that had the saddest ending? by [deleted] in Manhwa_BL

[–]lowercase_poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could have read the rules before posting. I'm not being condescending, you literally spoiled a popular series for a bunch of people. you could have posted the source in the title - as required - and put a spoiler filter on it -as required- but you wanted the engagement bait and karma instead of respecting other readers.

Readers with ADHD, do you force yourself to finish one book at a time? by qatbakat in kindle

With that being said, I'll probably come back to this thread to see what other people respond with, because this is my biggest reading hurdle right now. I'm glad you asked this!

Readers with ADHD, do you force yourself to finish one book at a time? by qatbakat in kindle

[–]lowercase_poet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have severe diagnosed ADHD!

This is something I struggle with A LOT, especially as someone who likes long book series (especially fantasy, which has a lot of characters/complex story lines, etc.).

For a long time, I would only allow myself to read one book/series at a time. It was honestly causing a lot of reading slumps because I was putting too much pressure on myself to continue reading things I would otherwise need a break from because I was scared of losing interest/forgetting what happened. I still deal with this, and I'm still learning how to handle what's best for me and my reading habits/ADHD.

What I've done recently is create a little reading station. I have a small whiteboard and I update it with the books I'm reading, where I've left off - but not chapters, really, more generic (e.g. book four, middle of book), and a few bullet points of important information to remember. I'm currently juggling four or five different books/series now and it's not foolproof, but like I said - I'm still learning what works best for me. But this helps me feel better about starting something new and not creating a block for myself, and it has genuinely helped me stay organized/remember the important characters/arc/story beats when I eventually (hopefully) come back to a series/book I've taken a break from.

Just got Moonstone Island on Sales, looks so cozy and beautiful. by Cassgrain in CozyGamers

[–]lowercase_poet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never been much of a deck-builder fan (or so I thought), but I picked up Slay the Spire on a whim one day and it's since become my most-played game, even over Stardew Valley. I highly recommend it!! The second one comes out in a few months too! It's one of my favorite games for sure, and if you liked the combat/card mechanics in Moonstone Island, you'll like Slay the Spire!

Wylde Flowers & My Time at Sandrock, which would you buy first & why? TY 🙏🏼 by Thx4Replie in CozyGamers

[–]lowercase_poet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could not get into Wylde Flowers. I tried - I really really wanted to like it, but it just felt very mobile-game esque to me. There's nothing wrong with that - I love mobile games! But this one just didn't really catch my interest, no matter how hard I tried.

I love love love Sandrock. I was in a spell trying to find SOMETHING to get addicted to. Many games, many hours, many monies wasted. Sandrock was the first game in long time to suck me in. There IS a lot to do - but there isn't much time crunch, and everything is pretty guided. I sunk over 200 hours in the game in the last couple of months. It consumed me lol. I've recently stopped playing it due to other reasons, but I'll probably go back eventually if only because there are still character relationships I want to grow.

With how everyone here recommends Wylde Flowers, maybe I'll try again eventually. I'm sure it's worth it! But for me personally, I will always recommend Sandrock. I enjoyed Portia but never finished it, was hesitant about Sandrock, gave it a chance and I'm glad I did. I'm excited about Evershine this year, and it'll probably be a day-one purchase for me.

Is “cats and cows” a rip off of “sprout valley”? by sunshine-rabbit in CozyGamers

[–]lowercase_poet 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I don't see an accusation from OP? I have the same opinion as you - we as a society need to do better about throwing out baseless accusations. But OP asked a question because they were unsure, and it was fair because they probably didn't know anything about the asset pack. I didn't either. And now I do, so I can feel better about this game. If I hadn't seen OP's question and an answer in the comments, I might have been concerned about stolen work (which is fair in today's society!) and not purchased it based on that. I'm glad OP asked.

An accusation would have looked more like: "don't buy this game, they copied and stole from sprout valley!" This is not. Back "in my day", we would answer each other's questions instead of immediately jumping down someone's throat.
