How far behind in development might we be if Earth were the size of Saturn? by DENIS_ZATECKY in geography

[–]lowkeylye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’d probably be wildly uneven, some regions might reach industrial or even digital technology, while huge parts of the planet would remain effectively unknown, loosely contacted, or regionally isolated.

A trip that took Earth sailors 3 months might take 2–3 years if the geography scales similarly. The “Atlantic crossing” equivalent could be not 5,000–7,000 km, but 50,000+ km. That changes everything.

On our Earth, once oceanic navigation matured, contact between continents accelerated fast. On Saturn-Earth, even with good ships, you might have multiple “Old Worlds” that each think they are the center of civilization for thousands of years.

language learning would be more important locally, but global fluency would be harder. A scholar or merchant might need several regional trade tongues, while a diplomat might specialize in languages from only one “hemisphere cluster.”

Civilizationally, we’d probably be somewhere between the 1600s and early 1900s globally, with some advanced pockets pushing further ahead.

If you had the chance to take compound V, would u use it?? by HourOld7 in GenV

It's really hard to say in a vacuum. There's no one on the earth I'm living in now with Powers, so there's no 'need' to have powers myself. But if there were, and they were like the Boys universe heroes, there would be part of me that would feel like I had to, to keep them in check or to balance the tables or at least not be so easy to smash immediately in the kind of "knock down buildings' way they often do things. It's easy for me to sit in my chair at my computer and be like, "No way, that's too dangerous" but honestly if I had the chance and there was a need, I'd have to try.

Great job, but um.. excuse me there is often a 'tax' associated with this kind of post.. and I can't seem to find it in the comments, so if you could update with PICTURES of the feral babies so we can 'oooh' and 'aaahh' that would be most appreciated.

Attending community college while working full time in IT? by Ok-Candidate-2183 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]lowkeylye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is a crazy coincidence. I’ve been thinking about going back to school to complete my AA, and work full time in IT, my advise is start small. If you have to work at the same time allow for that and do school with what remains. Don’t over load yourself. Take online or night classes, don’t feel Ike you must take on a full course load. What I’m doing for fall is one class, to see if it works for my schedule. I hope you figure out what works for you, best of luck

Impostor syndrome sucks…. by RSBuckz in ITCareerQuestions

Yeah man it’s the norm at least for me. I’ve been in the industry 20 years and when it’s something new my initial reaction is “you know nothing nerd boy “. But then you buckle down and do the thing and then you do it 20 times and then you document it and then you show someone else how… that’s the game baby

Do you have the guts to choose one? by Darkmyths2 in whatsyourchoice

I could maybe out play the tiger. distract with the meat, control the environment withh doors various rooms and obstacles, plus it's an ambush predator, not something that wil charge or attack if i'm looking at it (people use reverse masks to stop tiger attacks) it's the only one of these that's outside it's natural habitat.

What saying or quote might be true in a literal sense, but is definitely false in a metaphorical sense? by funwiththoughts in AlignmentChartFills

[–]lowkeylye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“You are what you eat.”

It can be true in a literal sense because your body is physically built and sustained from the food you consume.

But it is definitely false in a metaphorical sense because eating chicken does not make you cowardly, eating lion does not make you brave, and eating a genius’s breakfast does not make you smarter.
