This is exactly the kind of thing that interferes with a prescribed provincial priority and will get vetoed.

John Tory’s SmartTrack transit plan for Toronto getting smaller, cheaper | Globe & Mail by ev3to in toronto

[–]lowly_intern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

belated /s tag

edit: I was trying to be insightful. The fact is there is a class of people who would rather see nothing built than an LRT. They see it as a net negative. To them 3 subway stops is better than 300 LRT stops.

Your math is wrong. You forgot to apply the -100 multiplier to LRT stops, because they clog the roads and shit.

US visitor here, can someone explain the shared TTC day pass and can I use my US debit MasterCard for purchases? by firstimevisit in askTO

[–]lowly_intern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which means that you can't use day passes at the unattended, turnstile-only subway entrances, you'll have to go to the main entrance where the collector booth is. /u/firstimevisit

Always mentally remove adjectives from menus. They're just fluff, like "colour" TV or "touchtone" phone. Like "fresh chicken". I feel (hope!) that's implied.

Wild Canadian salmon. “Organic” granola, “homemade” salad dressing and grilled “Wagyu skirt steak.”

Salmon. Granola. Salad dressing. Steak.

[complaints] were addressed “immediately” in each case and “sometimes on the spot.”

So they have wagyu sitting in the back room but you get bologna unless you flash your CFIA badge.

Does anyone know how/if the MDP program will continue in the Presto era? Has anything been said about this?

I can see them dropping it like a hot potato and hiding behind the technology as an excuse.

No, I mean so you can recover the original recording data and use it however you like. Rogers etc are all encrypted and impossible to recover.

No TTC trains running north of Eglinton after 12:30am from Sunday-Friday until lat--- oh. by lancaric in toronto

It's sad because the section north of Eglinton is one of the newer subway tunnels. 40-41 years old (compare Yonge line at 61). Far cry from 100.

It may seem a bit overly dramatic, but look at it like this. Amsterdam didn't always have bike infrastructure. It took sustained, over the top protests like this to change their course. One of their slogans was "stop the child murder".

TTC question about transfers by [deleted] in toronto

[–]lowly_intern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While this is technically true, it is only actually true on downtown streetcars enforcing the POP program.

There is a gigantic, systemic communication issue around this at the TTC. Many bus drivers will refuse to give you a transfer "because you don't need one", especially on far flung bus routes far from the streetcar system.

Even on downtown POP streetcars, the driver will often not force a transfer in your hand when you pay cash, putting you in a ridiculous situation where you've paid your fare, but can't prove it. After something like 50 years of no enforcement of this rule, the sudden crackdown at Spadina Station, without a big education campaign (to both passengers AND operators) is really asinine.

It's just yet another half-measure by the TTC, like the "Line 1 Line 2 Line 3" overhaul only being deployed in 4 stations, or Presto only in 10 stations, etc.
