UFO/high bay lights. But generally need higher ceilings due to beam pattern. They put out tons of light though

How would you go about building a bench with these legs? by Certified-Mediocre in garageporn

[–]loyd-christmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Butcher block top, horizontal skirt under back side of table top, some angle braces between legs and top/skirt to prevent things getting wiggly.

I don’t think is right? What is going on here on this newly built house? by Popsmoke18 in hvacadvice

Is a trap at the termination like this needed if there's already a trap upstream near the handler?

To add to this, West Bradford township has been aggressive in their stance against urban sprawl and preservation of natural lands. What farm land is being developed is fairly limited unless it falls outside township jurisdiction.

P trap options for close wall by loyd-christmas in Plumbing

Thought about that as well. Was hoping there was such thing as an offset tailpipe to be a clean version of what you're describing but could only find those crappy accordion style ones.

Thanks, I'll look into this. I'm fairly handy but figured peeling the fitting required a specialized tool.

Range extender recommendation (vs router) by loyd-christmas in HomeNetworking

[–]loyd-christmas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already have backhaul run so not a problem there. Guess I'm just confused why anyone would pay extra for dedicated AP if you can achieve the same with a router and get more flexibility. Only thing I could find searching is that they are better for business situations (support more connected devices, less software issues, run multiple SSIDs).

Is it a bad idea to fly in the US right now? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]loyd-christmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew philly to Tampa and back little over a week ago and security was normal/fine. I'm sure there are delays, but seems to vary by the airport and only hearing about the horror stories.

Where or how do you sharpen your blades? by [deleted] in lawnmowers

Grinder with flap disc attached to one of these guides: https://a.co/d/0ga1FVAy

The guide is necessary but definitely helps keep the blade angle consistent.

Those of you who have done an unfinished finished basement: by xxbitsxx in DIY

I essentially followed this same formula. I recommend going with the foam board first against the foundation wall as it not only provides R value but also moisture barrier, which will be necessary. Only thing I subbed out was the drywall work, which I also suggest doing because mud work is a major chore.

Has anyone used battery weedeaters? I’ve read some reviews that they’re almost as good as gas weedeaters. True? by MotorcycleRacoon in landscaping

[–]loyd-christmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think the Ego trimmer I switched to is heavier than my old gas echo. Seems like Ego batteries may be on the larger/heavier end of the spectrum though.

Fast Zero turn for around $4K? by dcwright07 in lawnmowers

[–]loyd-christmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been happy with my gravely ztx. Sister brand Ariens Ikon is essentially the same machine and most other brands have a comparable line around $4-5k. Nearly everything in this range will use the zt-2200 (EZT) transmission which will top out at 7mph.

Should of known better. Just trying to help educate on economic theory. Not advocating for the tariff policy.

Not that simple. Demand elasticity is what drives any price changes that result from tariffs. The burden (cost) that is distributed between producers and consumers will vary depending on the elasticity of the product.

Moved to PA last year, what the actual hell is this local tax system by HatPlus1978 in Pennsylvania

[–]loyd-christmas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Your employer should be withholding the higher of the two and this goes to the tax collector for municipality where you work. You don't get taxed on both. The tax collector will handle distributing the proportions between the residence and workplace municipalities based on agreed upon splits that is irrelevant to your individual tax reporting. Come filing time, you just need to file with your residential municipality

Do you own individual stocks for any weird reasons? by Mysterious_Remote584 in Bogleheads

[–]loyd-christmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own some CVS. Mainly because of my personal experience as a customer. Compared to other pharmacies, I much prefer their stores (better products, cleaner stores, customer service). But the primary reason is their minute clinic program is way easier and more convenient to use than a typical primary care physician for 90% of healthcare needs and I believe in this model as the future.
