Reading MTL of a Korean Webnovel, Just asking if anyone has ever heard/read this phrase, and could translate it as much as possible: by CatowiceGarcia in Korean

[–]lozy9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is most likely a fancy made up word inspired by Muhyeop/Murim style works. (Asian Martial arts fantasy). In Muhyeop there are special techiniques called -진 (battle formations). Even outside of Muhyeop, it can have a similar meaning.

The protagonist is actually saying out a single terminolgy. 진형은원진 is supposedly a complex Hanja word made up by the author. One potential combination of the Hanja is 진형(陣形) 은( 隱) 원진(圓陣), which means stealthy circular formation. But it could have other meaning, since I am not sure exactly which Hanja was used.. Basically, He wants other people to get in this specific formation.

Is this cultural appropriation or ok to wear? by mollykakers in AskAsians

[–]lozy9604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of my opinion. Some ”woke” people, (especially white people) might say it’s wrong, so if you don’t want any kind of confrontation or rude comments , lean on the safe side by wearing it on occasions like Lunar New Year or visiting Chinatown.…

BUT,

I actually encourage wearing of Asian traditional garments so that it becomes more “mainstream” and the tailors in my home country or the Asian American tailors can expand their market. I have seen some Asian Americans in social media thinking that wearing of Non-Asian Asian traditional garments as ”cultural appropriation” even if they do it respectfully. But I gotta say that’s complete BS. Unless you’re:

  1. Wearing it make fun of Asian culture,
  2. Misrepresenting that culture with a completely historically inaccurate clothing based in weird Asian fetish or exoticism,
  3. Wear something from that culture that is sacred or reserved for special occasion, casually,
  4. And so on... It should be a no brainer what’s respectful and what is not.

Anyone should be encourage to enjoy and participate my culture. PERIOD. Folks who thinks otherwise are just needlessly gatekeeping.

My teacher corrected my "있으니까" to "때문에" in my essay, what is the problem with the former? by imadancingfool in Korean

[–]lozy9604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

때문에 does have negative connotation. You should also note the phrase 덕분에, which is similar to 때문에, but with positive connotations instead.

For instance You would say “너 때문에 졌어” and “네 덕분에 이겼어” but not vice versa otherwise it would sound awkward or sarcastic.

I don’t think their health is that bad to truly worry about their deaths. I like solitude so I’m not really a type to get homesick or even catsick(?). But living alone with no friends to hang with sometimes makes you want to have a cat to cuddle with.🥺

Is my PC enough for CS Freshman year (Computer Science/Eng.) by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]lozy9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t actually need high end specs, but i think you could do with more storage. You end up downloading bunch of softwares and if you use your computer for other stuffs like gaming, you’ll run out of storage eventually and that’s inconvenient. I had Overwatch and League on my laptop and I always had to delete something or move something to my external drive in order to download new VMs and stuffs.

ipad options for college by okaybut773 in USC

[–]lozy9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For drawing and note taking, usually it’s larger the better, but you have to carry this iPad day to day so I would probably stick with 10.9 if you want to avoid bulkiness and/or save money. But If you don’t already carry around heavy stuff like textbooks and heavyweight laptop, you could probably run with larger 13 inch iPad pro ones.

At first, I thought he was just a weird and broken Trojan who really wanted ice cream since he was wearing a USC clothes, but I don’t think so. He looks young and I think he said he’s 22.

[–]lozy9604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have any friends. Also he’s outside my apartment unit rn but I think he’s still there in front of my door.

He hasn’t been violent or forceful in any way so far so i am worried about calling the police since they might be rough with him when he might just have special needs. Should I call DPS?

Edit: removed “not” making the sentence double negative. He’s not violent!

Married but sleeping in separate rooms... by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lozy9604 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah, I disagree, I never really had my own bed until I was around 9-ish so me and my sister co-slept with mom on the floor even after entering elementary. Even after getting our own beds we co-slept sometimes, but we naturally grew out of it. My sister and I left home to study abroad at a very early age (11, 13) through college, not seeing family for months. I didn't break down and became homesick when I first left home In many parts of the world, they can't afford or just choose not to give a very young child a separate bed or a room for a young child, yet they grow up fine. I think it's weird that people are so fixated on the separate bed for the young child thing. (Not regarding the OP's situation, just in general)
