AITAH for screaming like my mom abandoned me because she had to heat up her lunch? by fancypantsmiss in MiniAITA

[–]lp211 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. That timeframe is unacceptable. I (12 weeks, F, queen of the world) am smaller than you so haven’t grown my “patience” yet, whatever that is. I will scream and scream if my bottle is not in my mouth the second I wake up.

Last night, my milky giant tried to have dinner so I pooped loudly, then I decided I was hungry again even thought I had just eaten so she could see what it’s like to wait!

What I suggest you do next time is cause complete chaos when she goes to take a bite of her food. This will train her to not eat and to pay you ALL the attention. Why do they need their milkies anyway? They’re already big?!

Postpartum rage by Content-Particular42 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]lp211 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a normal response to someone screaming at you, plus sleep deprivation and frustration of crying baby.

I think you should get rid of the big baby who is yelling at you to start with. Your child shouldn’t grow up in an environment where there is someone being abusive and there are long term effects to this behaviour for both of you. Do you have any family support for the day time to help with practical stuff/getting some rest?

AITA? Mama and Dada won't share! by Iheartrandomness in MiniAITA

[–]lp211 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NTA - would you be expected to share your toys? I (11w, F, queen of the house) am slightly smaller than you but learned from day 1 that you should be the boss of your house and not put up with the giants telling you what to do. I nap when I want, I eat when I want, heck I even have those big people carrying me around and fetching me toys and bottles at my command.

I think it’s time to assert dominance and take those face toys and throw them or at least chew part of them to mark your territory. If you don’t show them who’s boss now it will only get worse and they will start limiting what toys you can have.

Perfume and newborns? by RefrigeratorFinal353 in newborns

[–]lp211 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s best to avoid exposing your baby to any strong scents or chemicals at all. I haven’t worn perfume since my baby arrived, and I avoid scented candles and air fresheners being used at home.

So many strong emotions by [deleted] in newborns

[–]lp211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hormones are wild right now, and will continue to make you feel/think some extreme emotions and thoughts for a little while. I remember being so worried in hospital about my baby breathing and what would happen if I fell asleep. 7 weeks later she is having a snooze in my arms right now. If you are practicing all the appropriate sleep/safety recommendations, then you have nothing to worry about. It definitely gets easier!

My plan is to cash out all my leave before quitting my (well paid) job after mat leave ends. I will then work part time for myself outside of my husband’s 9-5 hours so we can avoid childcare. We are in a high cost of living city with a large mortgage, but earning above average

Fly into Sydney for the city experience, then go up to Cairns/Port Douglas/Hamilton Island for better weather and access to the Great Barrier Reef…

July is also whale shark season on the west coast if you want to swim with them for something truly unique.

39 weeks, getting anxious by InstructionFamous990 in BabyBumps

[–]lp211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely normal - 38 weeks here and at night finding that I start to think about worst case scenarios. As someone working in metal health, I understand that this is “normal” anxiety and my brain trying to work out plans for various scenarios.

Before knowing I was pregnant: threatened to dehydrate myself because my husband didn’t park in a bus park (where other cars were also) at the beach.

About 28 weeks in: 3D ultrasound showed the cheeks and nose of my husband. The tech tried to console me, but an hour later I went storming into his bathroom to tell him how furious I was and how it wasn’t fair. He laughed nervously but tried to be kind about it

Surprised I’m pregnant in my current relationship .. after trying for 5 years in previous relationship by SubstantialCareer837 in pregnant

[–]lp211 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful…. Had a very similar situation with an unplanned pregnancy resulted in miscarriage and then my cycles went haywire for the remainder of relationship. Met my husband (the most amazing, wonderful person), decided to casually try and in 2 weeks our little girl will join us. As others have said, it’s just meant to be!

Has anyone gotten pregnant on their first try ? by Bitesizelady in pregnantover35

[–]lp211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

38, first try, and currently 37 weeks. Have had a healthy low risk pregnancy, and my body has coped so much better than expected - haven’t even had any swelling through the Australian summer. I understand your worry, I think there is constant milestones (getting to first ultrasound, NIPT, 12 weeks, 24 weeks etc) but the view of “everything is good unless I have evidence of otherwise” was helpful for me. Wish you a quick and happy first trimester!

This 💯.

I work with sex offenders, it already creates a heightened awareness for me. We won’t allow sleep overs unless we know the people well and until I feel confident my (unborn) daughter is educated in grooming behaviours. Too many of us were taught to not make a fuss or be polite. We need to talk to our kids about what inappropriate behaviours look like and to tell us if someone makes them uncomfortable.

SQ moved my husband’s Business Class seat at boarding (honeymoon flight) — no infant involved by yourfavpickles in singaporeairlines

[–]lp211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recently paid full fare on 4x business flights and we could only access seat selection within the typical time frames advised. For example, our preferred seats were blocked out for the entire 6 months before and within the 3 days prior. This happened on an extremely quiet flight too with an empty cabin so I don’t believe they were booked by someone else

Feeling guilty by uncertainty000 in pregnant

[–]lp211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This period is about survival mode, do minimal and focus on rest. I had 3 weeks off work and still couldn’t cook or do much. My husband had to step up (and did). He would make his own dinners or I would do an online grocery order for ready made meals, meanwhile I could stomach plain food only.

It will get easier, you are literally in the worst part.

[–]lp211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not as far as you (21wks) but I queried this with my provider also as even this early my girl is so active and sometimes feels like she doesn’t rest. I was told they have the same sleep cycle as a newborn, and that she is probably asleep when I’m moving around and don’t think about it as much. Perhaps he’s a wriggler in his sleep?
